Title: People just don't get it !! Post by unsolved1 on Aug 1st, 2006, 2:11pm I got another one of those comments. You know ... One of those " ... Why don't you just take an aspirin an lie down..." comments. "Quit taking all the meds and live a little bit". WTF am I supposed to do ? Start explaining this whole CH thing to someone who has NOT A CLUE !! Guess I'll just send them the link to the 'letter to collegues & friends" !! And now my wife is trying to talk me into regular chiro visits. They just don't understand that they run in cycles (unless chronic) and that her cycle eventually ends and the chiro gets credit for it. |

Post by cootie on Aug 1st, 2006, 4:13pm It's not jus CH'rs that get those comments......I get so mad sumtimes I swear my eyes turn red and steam comes out my ears but I do fight the little horns back on topa my head from showin up. I have chronic back/neck issues......not tryin to compare tho.......it's never ending tho and I am SO FREAKIN TIRED of hearin people talk about pain issues and how 'they don't take any meds' cuz they don't need drugs and when they feel twinges of pain they get up and move around and they don't let it get to them or have to take anything. Oh and they also 'don't run to the doctor everytime sumthin hurts. Arghhhhhhh.....I want to kick them in the seata there pants Pam I 'try' to jus stay silent by thinking of ways to hurt them bad enuff they'd beg for meds and RUN to the docs office......snicker snicker. I too have on many occasion wanted to do permenant damage to some that have made stupid comments. Before coming here I did a few times. Thanks to Many here I have been able to stop and try to ignore those that cannot really understand..... Mike |

I can't count the number of times I've told people--"well, imagine this"--in an effort to explain. It's pretty fruitless stuff. How can they possibly get it? They have nothing to compare it to. Even WE have nothing to compare it to. And we can't show it to them, or make them feel it. (Not that I wouldn't like to demonstrate what ten seconds of a hit feels like sometimes. Just ten seconds--I'm pretty sure the pooh-poohers would moisten their shorts, down both legs.) On the other hand, I got into a long conversation with a nurse practitioner at a social gathering the other day, and he seemed genuinely interested, seemed very open-minded, and asked some very intelligent questions. I referred him here, and to the OUCH website. I guess there's hope that he, at least, will possibly now have some measure of empathy, understanding, and openness that others lack if he ever runs into another clusterhead. Of course, I was the first one he'd ever met, and who knows when he'll ever meet another? Sorry, I'm just meandering here. Best, George |

You'd be surprised how many people who fluently read, write and speak English suddenly do not understand a word when you give them some CH stuff to read... ::) Well, once I've translated that letter, they cannot tell me that "I know nothing about it" - CHit anymore... ;;D After that it's just ignorance. Post by Mattrf on Aug 2nd, 2006, 10:30am No they don’t, and it is just so frustrating, I have cut off all ties with my dad and my sister for not understanding and giving me crap and guilt for not doing what they want me to do. It is very sad, my sister may finally get it but it is to late, I will not pick up the phone if it is her and have told her I will call her when I am ready but to not expect it for some time. She was once my friend along with being my sister but know she is just another casualty of the beast. And yes I have sent her the co-worker letter and links to this web site and everything else I could think of to get her and my dad to understand to no avail. Matt |
