Title: My lunch break today
Post by Bethany1 on Jul 31st, 2006, 3:39pm
I just saw something terrible. I went to lunch at my husband’s office and when we were sitting there at the table eating we heard this retched screaming outside. It was the worst screaming I have ever heard in my life. It was a woman and she was sitting down cradling her puppie that had just been hit by a car. The woman’s daughter was also standing there screaming (she was about 4). I grabbed one of my husband’s jackets and we wrapped the puppie in it. My husband’s secretary ran to her car and pulled up and basically threw the woman and the dog in the car to bring him to the emergency vet.(The daughter was now with her grandmother) Its not like you can call an ambulance or anything. The woman that hit the dog was crying, it was such a mess. My husband is a mess because he feels so bad for the little girl. So he just called and gave me an update on the dog. He said that the people that own the dog don’t have any money so the vet suggested they put the dog to sleep. Well, my husband freaked out and said he would pay for the operation. At first I kind of protested a bit because it was not our dog and he just kept saying, Beth, the little girl, how would you feel. So apparently we are paying for the operation. I do hope he makes it. The poor little guy. I'm never going there for lunch ever again.

Oh that poor little girl!  And I really feel for that lady too.  I remember when I saw my dog get hit by a car, all I could do was scream out "NO!" over and over again while watching the car keep going.  I'll never forget how that felt!

Such a kind hearted husband you have to offer to pay for the surgery.  God bless him.

hugs,
mel

Bethany1...  [smiley=bow.gif] [smiley=bow.gif] - Blessing to you, your husband and his secretary..

It sounds like saving this dogs life was a group effort as far as getting him to the hospital and saving his life.

From wrapping him in the jacket, driving him to the Vet Hospital and last but diffently not least, paying for the surgery.

Let us know the progress of the doggie..

Having my Princess put to sleep was one of the hardess thing in the word (she was a 14 year of miniture poodle and she had cancer).

Peace & Blessing
LL

So the woman said that she can't rehabilitate the dog because she has 3 small kids. The dog will lose its leg with the operation. She wants to put the dog down. I'm sick. I'm so sick right now. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY

The woman is losing a valuable opportunity to teach her "small kids" a few lessons here like compassion, doing the right thing and life! Hell, I've seen and most have you may have seen dogs get along with a leg or two missing. Take me for instance, I lost my mind years ago but still manage to live a good life.
Can somebody answer that potato?

A great thing your husband is doing. If I were the vet and knew a little about the effect this has on a little girl, I like to think that the surgery would fall under the category of a good deed but then I'm old fashioned I guess.

We told the vet to tell us if they choose to put the dog down..... we will pay for the operation and Chris's secretary will take him. This is all if the people let us. Who knows. Hopefully they will. What a day. I'll keep ya posted.

The dog dosn't need rehab.  Four legged animals get along quite well missing a leg.  It just needs a chance to heal.

Do you have a humane Society in your area?  They might know of people that might take the animal in if the woman can't deal with it.  Just a thought.  You might suggest this to the owner.

There's a special place in heaven for people like your husband...those people will never forget his kindness.
