Come on Eileen" by Dexys Midnight Runners and The Emerald Express was the biggest-selling British single of 1982. The song was written by Kevin Rowland, "Big" Jim Paterson, and Billy Adams; it was produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley. It originally appeared on the album Too-Rye-Ay.

Now if you are judging just in the us
reaching number one in April 1983 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

Just so the music stuff is kept to a minimum. I listen to it now and then.....pre 1965 mostly but rarely keep track of who's who or what's what.

Have to disagree on that one.  Pete Hoagman and Rod Stewart looked similar (back then).  Rod dropped out of that session and Pete was the one that played.

13-  Hmmm, must have gottin my times mixed up I know Ken Brown played for the Quarrymen.

In 1964, The Five Dimensions were hired to provide backing for Jamaican singer Millie Small on her hit recording of My Boy Lollipop. It has long been thought Rod Stewart played harmonica on the record - a story he has since denied, but according to guitarist Kenny White, it was occasional band member Pete Hogman who played on the session. Pete apparently looked very much like Rod in appearance so it's likely that Millie Small's manager Chris Blackwell (who also managed Birmingham's Spencer Davis Group) was mistaken in identifying him.
