On the exciting side; I'll top off my whirlwind of an afternoon with plans to have coffee and cinnamon rolls at Tim Hortons with my preacher neighbor that just got back from 105 weather in Sacramento. Title: Re: Any weekend plans?? Post by georgej on Jul 22nd, 2006, 1:12am Nothing this weekend, but we just got back from a four-day midweek mini-trip to the Henry's Fork of the Snake River in Island Park, Idaho for a little fly-fishing. Took a one-day look at Yellowstone Park while we were in the neighborhood. It was hot there, too. For those of you who know the Henry's Fork, we couldn't scare up much action at Railroad Ranch, but we had better luck below Osborne Bridge. Found some nice rainbows, but nothing huge--16 to 18 inchers, mostly. PMD's coming off in the morning, and some Flavs. Lots of caddis. Some luck fishing terrestrials. My wife doesn't fish, but my daughter is getting pretty good at it. I didn't think my daughter was experienced enough for me to take her into Cardiac Canyon or Box Canyon. And to tell the truth, I don't like to challenge the river to kill me as much as I used to. Saw more bison in Yellowstone Park than I've ever seen--hundreds of them in the Hayden and Lamar Valleys. El (my daughter) got some great shots in the Park--I'll try to post a few of them when she's through messing around with them and loads them to Photobucket. Here's a shot of the Firehole River--just a taste: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36661278/ We stayed at an old fishing camp on the Henry's Fork that I have fond memories of--used to be simply a row of hundred-year-old cabins and a barn-like structure that was a combination restaurant/fly shop/semi-rowdy bar. Funny how you expect things never to change. Now there's a fancy yuppified "sports bar" in a new building and a bunch of spanking-new cabins. The old cabins are still there, and we stayed in one of them. The old restaurant/fly shop/bar is now derelict and abandoned. It hosts the largest colony of bats I've ever seen--thousands of them flying around at night. It's as if every fishing lie ever told in that building transmogrified into a bat and flutters around spookily all night long. Interesting experience. Regards, George |

Title: Re: Any weekend plans?? Post by cootie on Jul 23rd, 2006, 11:14pm Went to a big antique motorcycle swapmeet all day Friday in Wauseon Ohio. Then that nite we rode out to 'rally in the alley' where this one town has a section blocked off with an AWESOME band EVERY Friday nite.....really alot of fun. Ate at a nice cafe bar before the music......of course I had "one" more hillbilly encounter. Some YUCK face hick lady with some man that was either really drunk or had screw'd up health issues (hard to tell with hicks) sat across from us at a table and dumped an entire bottle of water on me. I got soaked.....all the butt ugly lady did was turn around and glare at me like 'so what'......so I had to walk thru the crowd when we left lookin like I pissed myself. Sat. all we did was go out for dinner and Suday we had calling hours cuz a friends dad died.....we met friends for dinner first and rode the bikes. It POURED rain even tho chances were slim.......sidecar got a bit SOGGY. Wet again Pam Anyone remember the Betsy Wetsy doll years ago ?? |

Yep, I remember the Betsy Wetsy doll. Back when I was a kid. In case anyone's wondering, it wasn't mine--it belonged to a female cousin....pretty little blonde with the most incredible blue eyes...well, nevermind. Anyway, Wetsy intrigued me in a clinical way, and I sorta dismembered her to see how she worked. For years, I had a very strange perspective on the probable configuration of the female anatomy. Title: Re: Any weekend plans?? Post by cootie on Jul 24th, 2006, 4:34pm My parents got me a 'Chatty Cathy' doll for Xmas one year and it had a big button on the side ya'd push in (primitive kinda deal back then) and it'd either yak it's dam head off in this irritateing as hell voice or start to cry with this gawd aweful sound....it'd do either one non stop for a copuple minutes. My dad tried to kill it about 5 times Pam Dismember dolly they shoulda of called it.........dad esp freaked out if I had it in the car with me on trips.....he'd reach around while driveing and grab that thing and rip out the box on it's back and toss the batteries and confiscate them. She disapear'd one day........while I was at school I think. Hmmmmm.....wonder what happen'd ?? ::) |
