Title: My turn. Thought on Milcon
Post by Richr8 on Jul 17th, 2006, 5:27pm
Where do I begin.  After only six months with the family, I finally got to meet many of you.  What an amazing and heart warming experience.  I truly felt emotions that I had thought I had lost the ability to feel.  I will not even attempt to mention all of the unique, special, and always too brief, encounters that I had with many of you. The sadness I felt in not having the time to get to know each of you better was overwhelming.  I literally spent only 8 hours in my room the entire weekend and that was only to pass out for brief periods so that I could get back to you all as soon as possible. I savored each moment and will cherish the memory of each of you throughout my life.  I have been touched in a way that has changed me.  I no longer feel alone, I am not afraid, yet my level of sadness is deepened knowing how each of you are impacted by this horrible condition.  In contrast, I have been strengthened by all of your ability to remain, hopeful, positive, and still care deeply for your CH family.

If I had two wishes, the second would be that I was more comfortable in new settings so that I could have reached out to more of you and developed closer relationships in the brief time that we had.  I know these things take time, and I’ll be around for a long time to complete the connections that time, or anxiety, did not permit.

You are truly an amazing group of folks, and I am proud and happy to have you all in my life.

You just made me cry.  What a way to open your heart up like that.  You are a great guy and I was so glad to get to meet you.  I agree, there is never enough time at these things.

Rich, all I can think of is "I'm going to give you a hug everytime I see you". [smiley=laugh.gif]  You never did hold to your promise!!! ;)

I honestly wish we would have had some chat time together, but there's always next year, right?

So glad you came, you are a very nice man and I enjoyed the time I did have with you.

Very beautifully written.  Got me all emotional.  :'(

Sigh...the after convention blues can be very tough...we just have to keep thinking "till next time" or "see you in cyberspace".

Hopefully I'll meet you next year!

The convention I attended in Nashville was incredible! My jaw was on the ground throughout much of the event. It didn't feel like a convention of strangers, but rather a gathering of war veterans - Cluster war veterans you might say. We can try to explain what we go through to others but they cannot fathom it. When you meet a fellow CHead - no words even need to be spoken. Just a look in the eye reverbrates the 'yeah, you've seen it too' emotion of many vets.
For me, it was nothing short of a religious experience. The event Thomas referred to in Davenport, IA is similar, but more like a family reunion.

I'm glad you made it to MilCon Richard, and look forward to meeting you at either next years convention, or if you want to make the venture to DavCon in January - you'll have a blast there also.

Peace,
Carl D - 19 year CH veteran

Shit, me too, Thomas.

Just when I think I've no more tears left, you go and spill your heart.

Funny thing about clusterheads....we pm each other alot and unfortunately some never get the chance to meet.   I firmly believe that all clusterheads connect to a certain extent.   Some of those connections become special.

Rich is one of those special connections.   I feel so privileged that I was able to share so many hours, so many thoughts, lots and lots of laughter and so many tears with you.

I hope you know how special you are to me.

It's so true that we come into each other's lives, and we never leave.

I'm so happy that you found those lost emotions....and that you feel the strength that we all experience as a family.   Please don't let any sad thoughts enter your mind.   We're all in this together, sweetie....and even though we're all different....we all suffer.

I know you've been thru some rough times, but that's almost all behind you now.   From this point on, remember that you're loved and thought of.   One thing I can promise you....this family will never leave you and this family will love you as long as you allow them too.

Thank you so much Rich, for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your life.

Much love,

Jean

Richard, it was a pleasure to meet you, you seem like a sweet warm person.  Didn't get to talk much but I am certain that this will not be the last time you gather with your new family.  It's only just begun!

Note: Next time I'm doing Sandra Bernhard in the lobby, please make sure there is something in the glass besides a mixing stick!  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Btw, I heard say, did anyone ever tell you something about you reminds them of Mel Gibson?  Well ya do!  ;;D

Aww Rich.. it was so good to meet you  :)
I miss you so much, I didn't get nearly enough time to chat to you but I loved every minute that I did.
Thank you for being so protective of me, thank you for letting me handle things myself. Having you there beside me was a safety net though and I thank you for being just absolutely perfect. Why the bloody blue hell is AZ so far from me huh? I couldn't ever have enough of your company  [smiley=hug.gif]
Thanks for simply being one of the most special men I've ever met
with love always
Helen xxxxx
