Title: Thoughts........reflections.... Post by thomas on Jul 17th, 2006, 11:10am I will start this by saying that this is THE MOST optimistic I have ever been after leaving an OUCH function. The research project that is in the works at Harvard has given us a lot of hope, I just hope the politicians don’t bollocks it up for us. The dedication and perseverance of our BOD and officers is absolutely amazing. And the work that the volunteers are doing is truly priceless. Rori, you are a gem in every sense of the word. You did an absolute bang-up job and I thank you. I think the convention was a great success, because of the efforts OUCH and all of the members who attended. The speakers were great, I was soaking in every word from all of them. Aside from that perspective, getting to a more personal tone with my thoughts…… It was so great to see all of my old friends/family again, Jackie, Jean and Blake, you three will always have a very special place in my heart, from day one you have embraced me and accepted me and made me feel loved and welcomed into your hearts, I can never, EVER express how much you all mean to me. I was really happy to get to spend more time with Jimi and Ruthie this time, I really enjoyed it, you two are just marvelous people, the love you two share for each other is very apparent and I think some of it spills out onto us clusterheads too, for that I thank you both. It is always so good to see Bob (Bluemeanie) he has always been a great friend to me, and I’m so glad you brought Cindy with you she is such a sweetheart, but we missed Rae too! Be sure to tell her we were thinking about her. DJ and Stephanie, what can I say you two are just beautiful people, and so in love. I can never thank DJ enough for all he means to so many of us. And Stephanie is just an absolute perfect fit, she really cares about all of us too. Ruthie (LadyLuv) you are such a dear, and my heart lifts every time I see you. Liz (ASB), you worked yourself to death this weekend, you are such a tireless supporter for so many, and you have such a huge heart, and you should be very proud of your children. Tina and Rrrrrrrrrrrrramon! ;) I love you guys so much, and to me you are both family, and you and your girls always bring a smile to my face. Mel, I think you must be just one of the sweetest people ever born, you are just incredible. Carol (Grandmasweetboy) You are incredible, it was sooooo good to finally get to meet you, the way you took Gena under your wing was just fantastic, I don’t even have to words to express how impressed I was by you and the way you take care of things, your daughter is a lovely lady as well, and it was a pleasure to meet her as well, I hope her flight home is uneventful. Andrea (Broomie) it was such a great honor for me to meet you, you are so special, your compassion for others coupled with your great insight makes you an incredible lady, and I literally don’t have to words to express how great it was to actually get to meet you and hug you. Donna D, take a damn nap and get some rest or I am gonna kick your butt! You are just awesome. Steve (Kop) you have a heart of gold, and are such a great guy. Tom K, thanks for letting us meet your beautiful wife, and I do wish you two all the best. UK Ben, WOW, what else can I say about some one who has done so much to improve life for so many of us, you are truly a gentleman. Helen, you are an absolute doll, I love the twinkle in your eye and that devilish grin. Your biting wit is only matched by the depth of your love and compassion. Patti K, it was so great to finally meet you, I hope it isn’t that long before we can have coffee or lunch, since we are so close. Pep, you are such a great supporter for us all, and I love your realism and dedication. Plus you are a blast to hang out with. It has been too long since Nashville. Bill, you are a brother to me as surely if we shared parents, I don’t know what more else I can say. Jonny, you are so special to so many people in so many different ways. I for one always enjoy our camaraderie, you’ve always been a great friend and brother. Jasmyn, you are one great lady, it was such a pleasure to sit and talk with you. I’m so glad you made the long journey to be with all of us. I hope the native here provided adequate entertainment for you. Lol. Cat, you are my hero, I don’t like to think where any of us would be without all of your hard work, we each owe you a debt of gratitude. Linda, you are such a treasure and do so much for so many, I we all have a special place in our hearts for you. Jim, wow, what can I say, I admire your insight and “get it done” attitude, I hope to learn much from you in the near future, you are such a great asset and have a wonderful way of explaining things to a layman, such as myself, thanks for all you have done. Gator, man it was so good to finally meet you, you are such an inspiration, you picked up an oar from day one and haven’t put it down yet. Your compassion and dedication is humbling. |

Svenn and Bente, you two are so special to me, I love Svenn like a brother, and Bente is just and absolute angel, I can never express the gratitude that I have for all of your hard work and support. WildHaus, I truly enjoyed our many conversations, you are definitely a man of character, and that is something that speaks highly to me. You left a very deep impression on me from this weekend, I admire how you refuse to give up in the struggle we all face. Mat, it was so good to see you again, and your Dad was a lot of fun, I’m really glad you brought him with you. You are both in my thoughts as you deal with the loss of your friend. Ted and Karla, thank you so much for the use of the Tiger Balm, it helped immensely. And I had a great time playing golf on Friday. Speaking of golf, MR, it was awesome to finally get out and hit the links with you, we have been talking about it for years, and it finally happened, and I’m glad it did, because I didn’t get to see you much outside of it. We will have to make this some kind of tradition. Brew Crew, man I can’t think you and the dudes in the band enough, you put on a hell of a show, the music was OUTSTANDING, you are all very talented and we were blessed that you shared your music with us. Plus it was great meeting you. And a special thanks goes out to the UW band, I was completely surprised and impressed that you kids came out and entertained us. Hope to see you all this fall, GO BUCKY! I know I didn’t mention everyone, and I’m sorry if any one feels slighted, but my head is still reeling with all that transpired this weekend. I love you all, and you are all special to me. Thank you to all who came, and those who weren’t able to attend, I hope to see you all real soon. |
