Title: Milcon connectivity
Post by Kirk on Jul 13th, 2006, 12:33am
Right at the moment the wireless connection at the hotel is pretty damn iffy. Most can't even get it in their rooms. Let alone anywhere else on the premises.
Bummer

YMMV

I hope they can get it fixed, lot's of people are bringing their laptops. I can just see a bunch of clusterheads at the front desk asking about it.

I will be. I use my laptop extensively.

By the way, wasn't that part of the agreement from the hotel? I mean, they advertise it, right?

Can you imagine 50 clusterheads in the business center trying to get access?

SOLUTION!

Kirk, get your lazy bum outta the chair, go find someone in a suit, tell em ya  NEED connectivity, and YOU can get it......
                                        then, do it!

I know you can!!!!!!!!!

I have a solution, but it's not fit to print. However...

Not Kirk's problem, it's the hotel's. Surely they have an experienced IT person to handle this type of situation. Surely they do.

Is hardwire network cable an option as backup?

From what I understand, only certain rooms are hardwired with dataports. Not ours.

Sure, if they want to hire him as an outside contractor, and he agreed to it, why not? He'd have it done in less than 30 minutes, I'm sure.

I forget what the pay scale is for that kind of work/ experience. Let's see... 5 nights hotel room reserved? That may just cover it.

I called the hotel a few days ago to find out if they had high speed or what and they said they had all wireless.
So, then I went and bought a wireless card for my puter, JUST for this weekend!!
Plus I love it, but it won't work at my house...so it's pretty much JUST for this weekend.
Hopefully they'll fix it :)
See ya'll thurs evening :)

What kind of card did you get Mast? Those with PC cards for their laptops will have the least probs with signal quality I suspect.
If the hotel does something about the quality of their WLAN today the whole thing will be moot.
