Hi me Summer again, Anyone ever hear or try Fentanyl for CH , My neuro prescribed me these lollipops that are fentanyl and to suck on these things at my peak ch. Ok first of all tried them twice, first time I got all weird , stumbling, :o I know its a heavy narcotic which I am not comfortable with , but I was in such pain and desperate I tried it and yes it did get rid of the nasty demon. second time same thing but told him dont like them and would prefer something else... :'( hate this, and the shadows god they scare me I know its coming, I am so tired but I am afraid to sleep ....

You will get more answers on the meds boards about med questions than you will here. some folks with great knowledge on meds never even come to this board.

I know that Karla said the Fentynal something patch at 50mcg a day had kept her pain free for 4 years.
I havent heard of the lollipop, I guess it would be efficient, but I dont know if I want something in my mouth while I am getting slammed. Could even be a choking hazard.

There are a small group of us that have tried and had luck using the fentanyl patch. I take the 50mcg. I know of some on 25 and others on 100mg. One thing to remember is that I tried everything under the sun to prevent them (8 a day) and this should be a last resort because there is so much else out there to prevent these ha from occuring. I was on vicodin and percacet taking large doses of it to lower the kip 10 to kip 7 to at least limit my pain so I wasn't suicidal. I was on that for a year or two. I built up a tollerance. Then I was on methadone 5mg am and 5 mg pm for a year. It worked to keep the ch away but I slept for 15 hrs a day or more. I went off that and onto the fentanly patch. I had no problem with the narcotic. No high feeling. And I am awake!!! I have been pain free as far as ch goes for a few years now. However It does nothing for migraines. I still get those. I would talk to your dr about the patch vs sucker. But if you are only getting hit one or two times a day a sucker may be the way to go for you. I was in pain 16-20 hrs a day. Good luck in finding something that works.

Good god Karla I wanna hug you , poor kitten that must of been the ultimate nightmare. I appreciate your input , these pops are heavy ,600mcg..too much, but did rid the beast . I am going on Monday to see doc and see what else lies ahead I am getting hit 2-3 times a night and my kip scale is about 8 to a 9. I hate this I have missed work, appointments , my world is turmoil now ...

Holy crap......the lollipop do-hickies are THAT STRONG ? Supposidly the patches aren't to be scripted unless the patient has been on some form of opiate of at least I think 30 mgs 'daily' for so long otherwise they will or may have a BAD reaction !!! I am on the lower dose of patch because me and that med don't exactly get along. I had a major reaction to the 50 mcg to where I could barely hold my head up and keep my eyes open. (Brad wasn't too impressed) And I had been usein other meds for pain (not ch tho.....chronic back and joint pain). I rarely take anything tho as prescibed cuz I wanna see where I am with the pain which always backfires cuz I have toooooooooo many bad days doin that. Anyhow.....the patch works ok but I still have my wierd feeling days and have woke up mornings SICK. I never ever seem to be able to get used to anything or have it work the same week to week. I can't imagine tryin 600 mcg tho. I'd be 6 foot under Pam :-/
