Title: I've got a poorly Jasper Post by LeLimey on Jun 29th, 2006, 9:27am Well I've had a couple of months respite from "my" seat in A&E as Jasper has been a bit more careful but it all came crashing down last night. The kids were at their dads for the evening and I was just about to go to visit a friend when the phone rang. Jasper had jumped off the side in the bathroom and hurt his arm and shoulder and he was screaming blue bloody murder. They had tried giving him pain meds bt to no effect so I said to pick me up on the way through - it was a job for A&E (Accident and Emergency dept) We got to the hospital and were seen by a triage nurse straight away and then the doctor. He wanted x rays as he didn't like how Jaspers arm was hanging and we had them done immediately. Straight back to the doc who decided probably no breaks (very swollen so wouldn't say 100% not) but dislocation. Jasper is home from school today and is very subdued, he is on pain relief and has his arm in a sling. I had to take him to the stupidmarket earlier on and it was so stressful, I was so nervous in case anyone bumped or joggled him but we were fine. He is such a star, he is still totally independant in spite of not being able to use his left arm at all and absolutely won't let me help him - not even to go to the loo! LOL You can see when it really hurts because his eyes fill with tears and he grits his teeth but not a single word of complaint crosses his lips. As a matter of fact he has spent the last hour drawing and colouring a picture for "Auntie Val" who is running in a 10K race in London on Sunday to raise money for OUCH UK. I wish more than anything he wasn't hurting.. but I'm so proud of him too! :) |

Title: Re: I've got a poorly Jasper Post by Redd715 on Jun 29th, 2006, 9:36am Jasper sure sounds like he's got Mom's stubborn streak. [smiley=laugh.gif]. It's good to know he's ok, but for a bit of wear and tear. Little ones at his age are fearless..(until they manage to damage some part of their annatomy). He'll heal up, and then he'll be back to mischief..and giving Mum heart attacks again. Give that little guy a (gentle) hug from Auntie Redd |

Title: Re: I've got a poorly Jasper Post by brewcrew on Jun 29th, 2006, 9:47am It is the single most difficult thing about being a parent - that we can't take away their pain. Hang in there, Helen. He's a kid, and he'll heal a lot faster than we ever do. And give Jasper a gentle, carefully placed hug from me. Tell him I can't wait to meet him. Bill |

Title: Re: I've got a poorly Jasper Post by nani on Jun 29th, 2006, 12:31pm You are an amazing little man, Mr Jabs. It's OK to let Mummy help, though. I want you to feel better very soon, so I can give you a BIG hug. For now, have Mum give you a very gentle one from me. Let my froggie friend do all your jumping for now, OK? http://bestsmileys.com/ballons/3.gif And Mum... have you looked into the bubble wrap suit yet? So sorry you had to go through that. Sometimes I wonder how we survive our children's childhoods! big hugs to you, too, nani |
