Title: WOW!
Post by Carl_D on Jun 26th, 2006, 6:16pm
This weekend KICKED ASS!!!
I had one of the best times of my life out at Ozark Bikefest 2. The place was like paradise, and playing on the massive stage was a great experience! We did Friday's gig in our street clothes, but dressed up for Saturday (though I felt shaky about doing the wigs, it went over very well). After our set on Saturday we were approached by the prez of one of the bike clubs, offering us a gig in Jonesboro, Arkansas! So, we are negotiating on that.

Hey Kimmie - is the Eat A Peach band you were talking about now named Mondin after the guitarist John Mondin? If so, then we had yer Eat A Peach there. In fact, I broke my bottleneck slide on Friday when I got there and had to use a lighter as a slide for "Bad Motor Scooter". Then, Friday night John gave me a slide and said "Here ya go. I buy in bulk!" - No wonder. The dude SMOKES with a slide on guitar!!!

Our light/pyro guy, Backwards Bob, brought five 1/4 sticks of dynamite with him and we told everyone on friday night, when you hear the boom at the mainstage on Saturday - head on down to the stage, as the show will start right after (what I wasn't expecting was for the 2nd bang during "Hair of The Dog" - Doc said he saw me jump when it went off).

I came back with a million stories. Too much to tell. One guy had a motorcycle with the side car on it, giving everybody rides, getting it on two wheels with the car in the air, spinning out, etc. That was alot of fun. I even took a trip around while holding the video camera. That should be some shaky footage!  ;;D

The creek behind where we camped - the water was so clear you could see the fish and crawdads. On the other side of the creek, we found a cool cave. I was too awesome.

I'll tell you what: being a musician may not seem like alot of work BUT, you have to haul the gear, unload, set it up, deal with little sound disasters, etc. I did alot of roadieing - not just for us but for other bands too. I slept 2 hours friday night and 2 hours saturday night before the long trek home. Yesterday I was so sore and exhausted but wore a grin ear to ear. Still hurting - but it is sweet pain lemme tell ya.

I could go on and on. It was a phenomenal time.

Peace,
Carl D

It's all about the applause, man. Everything else in between is child's play.

Congratulations! I'm really happy this worked out for you and the guys.

I knew ya'd have a good time at the bikefest.......there always a blast and always sumthin goin on of interest........we have a sidecar on one of our old shovelheads and Brad used to do that crazy shit with the other one we had on the panhead like what you said that guy did...with ME IN IT !!! He'd fly downt he road sumtimes sideways and do loop-de-loops and tip it up in the air. The one we have now is a heavier body and GLAD he kinda cooled it with all the side car antics......but it is fun and 'yeah' kinda shakey esp off the road. Glad ya had a good time.......side car Pammie

Brad used to help a few friends bands setup and tear down for years and it IS alot of work !!!! We'd get done around 4:00 am.............
