Tomorrow is the Summer Solstice.  It has been stated that some experts believe that the circadian rhythms and the hypothalamus are triggered into derangement because of the winter and summer solstice.

The prevalence of CH is 0.4% overall. That is, CH may be 1% in New England, and only 0.1% in Brazil. The reason for this, is, they are now exploring the theory that CH is affected by environmental conditions, to include latitude. CH appears to be much more common in cold climate countries than it is in warm climates. They believe this may be due to hot climate countries being closer to the equator and don't experience the shorter and longer days of the year. This all ties in to the circadian rhythms. This also is only prevalent in CH sufferers, not in migraine, not in tension, not in sinus, etc. They believe that the circadian rhythms and the hypothalamus are triggered into derangement because of the winter and summer solstice.

It has been observed, on an OVERALL plotting of CH sufferers that there is a circannual periodicity in CH. They have shown that overall, sufferers (episodics in cycle, or chronics) will suffer a CH attack 2 weeks after the longest day of the year, and 2 weeks after the shortest day of the year. This was observed by Dr. Kudrow after plotting ALL his patients' attacks. Individuals will vary obviously, but overall, this has been shown to be true.

Overall peak time periods of attacks have shown to be 2:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m., with the average attacks being 3 per day, with individuals suffering anywhere from 1-8 attacks per day. Again, this is plotted overall data, and not individual.

Because of the longest day of the year, we, the Finns, are celebrating it as Midsummer. Midsummer's Eve is on Friday and Midsummer Day is on Saturday. Good luck finding Finns then! ;;D

I'm off to our summer cottage again tomorrow. Mum will pick me up at 11 am. My aunt, my cousin & her boyfriend will be joining us this year. Lots of folks celebrate the Midsummer just like us, at their summer cottage, with relatives. And others meet friends and have a great time.

I've spend Midsummer at the summer cottage with my parents and other relatives or family friends as long as I can recall. Naturally, to many, Midsummer is just another excuse to drink, but for us, it's all about relaxing, enjoying each other's company and eating good food. Can't wait to make pies and cakes! :D I made Tigercake for my boyfriend today, so I'm in good baking mood... ;;D

Redd you want to try something good, I made this bread for my kids and they went nuts over it. It is more like a sweet cake then bread but really good.

It is called Cinnamon Bread Delight.
This makes one loaf.

INGREDIENTS:
•      3 cups all-purpose flour
•      2 cups sugar
•      1 (5.1 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
•      1/2 teaspoon baking soda
•      1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
•      1/2 teaspoon salt
•      2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
•      1 1/2 cups milk
•      1/2 cup vegetable oil
•      1/2 cup applesauce
•      2 eggs, beaten
•      1 teaspoon vanilla extract
•      2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar

DIRECTIONS:
1.      Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease two 5x9 inch loaf pans.
2.      In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, pudding mix, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, oil, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla. Stir the milk mixture into the flour mixture until smooth. Sprinkle the bottoms of the loaf pans with cinnamon sugar, and divide the batter between the 2 pans.
3.      Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a loaf comes out clean.

Well just in case...


This weekend at bikefest, The SCHWAG will be playing on Saturday night. They are fanfuckintastic! I saw them for the first time last night and was in awe!!! They are a Grateful Dead tribute band and do alot of other old music as well (They opened with "Riders on the Storm" last night and it was breath-taking). Anyway - wherever THE SCHWAG goes, well... you-know-what will be EVERYWHERE! As they say, an ounce of preventention is worth a pound of cure!

I did promise my bass player though to wait until after our set on Saturday - just in case I get 'lost in the crowd'.  [smiley=mellow.gif]

Glad that the Summer Solstice doesn't affect my cycles. I thumbed my nose at the beast on Tuesday in which my day included:

- Having a beer at 1:30pm
- Flying on a plane at 2:50pm
- Running 8 miles in 90 degree heat at 5:30pm
- Having a glass of red wine at 8:30pm

The beast be damned. (I'll be bold in the summer and a wimp in the Fall)
