Title: Would YOU be Nervous? Post by Carl_D on Jun 16th, 2006, 1:45pm Sorry I haven't been posting much, but puter is down at home, and am limited on time here at work. I hope to remedy this very soon. Okay, about a month or so ago, my old bass player Doc tried to pull me into the band "Hairzilla" - but things went awry, I had one jam with them, and then they went with another guitarist who almost killed the band. Then, they got stranded. The next 5 weeks are booked up for weekends - and no guitarist! So, I had about 15 messages from Doc begging me to call him Wednesday, which led to calls with the singer & other guitarist who were all "We should have went with you in the first place." Doc told them, this guy is our boy. So, (deep breath) - Even though I quit learning and rehearsing the songs about 2 1/2 weeks ago, I picked up on them quickly last night at my first actual rehearsal with Hairzilla! I had started on an alternative project, and now I am back to this faster than I can think. Insomnia is back hardcore, and I am sweating bullets. Not a wink of sleep last night and only an hour the night before. Why you may ask? I'm not sweating my first gig with them tomorrow night in Rolla, MO - however, next weekends "Bike Fest 2" in the Ozarks Zoe Campgrounds is a 2 day event which we open, in front of about 6'000 bikers. That has me a tad sweating. What is freaking me out beyond all recog is... July 22nd we are on the bill with... TED NUGENT!!! I was shitting bricks when I found out we are opening up for Uncle Ted, but then I learned that Ted plays from 9-10:30, and Hairzilla goes on at 11-12:30. HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU FOLLOW TED NUGENT ON A STAGE? I know I will be psyched and pumped and everything on the day of the show, but will be shitting a hotel before then. The crowd expectancy is between 18-20'000, and will be the biggest crowd I have ever played for. I'll admit, I am a bit unsettled being thrown into the band at the last minute before a show. But I have done it a dozen times before, sometimes getting a days notice before a gig. But some of this shit I haven't even LISTENED TO in 20 years. Poison... I never listened to, but can play their shit in my sleep. I don't know. Just a bit nervous since I haven't really gigged out since Act of God. The only thing that could possibly fuck this up for me is.... I'm not even gonna go there!!! Getting My Yah-Yahs Out, Carl "Mack" D PS - For more info go to www.hairzillaband.com And yes, they now have me listed as in the band but um, no - that isn't me in the band photo. New pics coming next week. Oh, and only one cluster in 4 months. Not bad for a former(?) chronic eh? |

Title: Re: Would YOU be Nervous? Post by FramCire on Jun 16th, 2006, 2:05pm I wish I had known earlier. Rolla isn't too far to take a road trip but I got a kids birthday party tomorrow night and I have to be there. Keep us up to date on the band and maybe I can get the rest of the Ch crowd in the Ozarks to attend a concert sometime. |

Title: Re: Would YOU be Nervous? Post by Redd715 on Jun 16th, 2006, 11:42pm When they talk about BIG breaks this is what they meant.... Nerves are ok, they'll keep you on your toes, but when those lights shine down and the drummer hits those first few beats, you'll be in action and there is nothing to stop you from shinin'. Don't be your own worst enemy.. You have the skill and talent to bring this full circle. Break a leg ROCK ON!!! |

Title: Re: Would YOU be Nervous? Post by Jimi on Jun 17th, 2006, 12:10am No reason to be nervous. The bikers will love you and besides you probably play better than Nugent now anyway. Enjoy the ride and rock on! |
