I will be turning off my cable internet for the summer and am looking for some help.what internet suppliers free or real cheap would you recommend.Now remember that I am a computer dummie I have certain sites that the girls and I go to but other than that I know how to fegrag,use my spy ware checkers and keep my norton firewall and anti-vius up to date.I use to get disc in the mail for free trial offers haven't gotten them in a while (go figure).My cable tv is going so I hope I can get a channel or two with antanae.OH well summer is for outdoors anyways so tv and computers aren't big deal.I just like to check in on the family here.thanks in advance for the advice,

Netzero, Netscape, and others. Both of those 9.95 a month. Netzero will give you 10 hours a month free.
All I get is dial up, I use netscape now, really not much difference. Several others even cheaper but can't say how good they are. Looked at Malika (think I spelled that right) but never tried it. Google cheap internet access, tons out there, some good local ones.

Depending on how much you are looking to spend, netzero high speed is about 14 bucks a month. Great for surfing, but not for downloads. I know thats about half of what you are probably paying right now. Netzero is a pretty good deal at the 9 something a month. Taxes etc bring it to like 11.29 a month.

Minnie, check your local yellow pages for internet providers. I once used a start-up reseller of bandwidth in MD. that didn't even show up on most search engines. Juno has a pretty good rep but unfortunately the so called free services seem to have gone away.

Or you can call up your provider, scream and tell them that you are going somewhere else and see what they come up with. I killed my AOL this year and they were willing to bend over backwards and offered me 6 months for free. If I wasn't soo pissed at them, I probably would have taken them up on the offer.

I use http://www.ISP.com and pay $8.95 a month for unlimited access. The connection is usually good too and I dial in normally at 40Kps. The other one I heard of that is less expensive and good is People PC Online. I think it's http://www.peoplepconline.com

local library if you have a library card it is free My wife
Connie is the director of the public library and we have
20 computers with high speed for public use and they
are busy all day long

After checking out Donna D's link the coopernet looks like one of the resellers I spoke of. Could be a good thing if they have local #s in your area! "no contract" is the key term to look for
