Title: Good Kids....
Post by Redd715 on Jun 13th, 2006, 6:30pm
Meg and Dyl walked home fron the Library this afternoon.

Upon returning home, Dylan told me that he and Meg came upon a knife, with about a 6 inch half straight, half serrated blade, much wider than your average steak knife.

They said they left it alone right where it layed, which was in a grassy median strip between the Mall and well frequented Ice Cream Parlor.  We drove over to where it was, picked it up and turned it over to a County Sherriffs officer who just happened to be in the same parking lot,  I assume on his dinner break because he left his squad there and hopped into a gals car.  This was no kitchen utensil, and I shudder to think if any young kid would have picked it up and started to horse around with it.

I have good kids....smart kids....

I'm one lucky Mom.

Crystal would've picked it up and bought it home as a toy.   :-/

She actually put a pocket knife in my bag when I went to the City to see Jimi... :-[  Gotta talk to that kid.

Yes, your kids are smart, that's for sure... ;;D

You have good kids Redd.  Man, when I was a kidd I would have thought I'd hit the jackpot and brought it home to add to the collection.  Then I would probably go in the back yard and use my mom's garden sprayer as a flame thrower with gasoline.

I was a hand full when I was young.  Never did any damage though.

Seriously, I can only imagine what a knife like this was doing in that median strip.  Why would someone discard it there of all places?  When Dyl was holding it before he handed it to the officer, I felt a very bad vibe coming from it.  Not sure what it meant but my blood literally ran icey.

They are good kids, good heads on their shoulders.  You've done a great job.

Why did Dyl hand the knife to the Sheriff?  Wouldn't that contaminate it if it were evidence?

I called the local police dept, and they said they can't just send an officer to the sceen to scurry the area, but we could go back and get it and turn it in if we wanted to.

Well YEAH I wanted to.  Kids walk that area all the time to get to the ice cream place, the mall, the park on the other side of the street by the river.

It was a coincidence the County Boy was there in the parking lot.  They didn't seem all that concerned about a knife in the street.

Cops prolly just tossed it anyways... Could've been accidently dropped, or it may have been tossed to get rid of evidence... No tellin'... I found a machete in my front yard once... Called the cops... They came to pick it up... Didn't use gloves or anything... They just tossed it in their trunk and drove off.  I should've kept it... Maybe I could've knocked down a bit of the jungle in my back yard with it.

Redd, I think that qualifies you and the kids for the challenge put up by King Of Pain the other day.
