ESTABAN!!!  GAG!!

I think Andre Segovia is amazing.  I am personally hip on John Petrucci of Dream Theater.  I saw them and Joe Satriani and he could do anything Joe could and he playes with some serious intensity.

ONE! Impossible! Could change this order every few minutes.  ;)

1. Stevie Ray Vaughn  (What could have been)
2. Eric Clapton  (Duh!)
3. Randy Rhoads (Again what could have been)
4. Chuck Berry  (Led the way)
5. Brian May (Hand made guitar from mantle, amazing sounds)
6. Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits, and his solo albums)
7. Robert Johnson (Don't know him? ... you should)
8. B.B. King (Come on! Have you heard?)
9. Phil Keaggy (Christain guitarist, most probably never heard of him.)
10. Duane Allman (Has to make the top 10!)

No particular order:
11. John Fogerty
12. David Gilmour
14. Steve Miller (Again, concert! Nothing like the albums)
15. Jimmy Hendrix
16. George Harrison
17. Carlos Santana
18. Jimmy Page
19. Pete Townshend
20. Jeff Beck
21. Robbie Robertson
22. Neil Young
23. Jeff Beck
24. Jerry Garcia
25. Johnny Winter

Honarable Mention: Roy Clark (In concert this guy played everything from country, blues, classic rock and even heavy metal! He could do almost anything with a guitar.)

Just my 25 cents worth, wanted to post even more   :-X

I will just assume that those that put up lists of guitarists, have just never heard Kenny Wayne Sheppard play his cover of Voodoo Chile.

Can't pick just one.

Stevie Ray Vaughn
Eric Clapton
Jimmy Page (wrote some of the catchiest riffs of all time)
Randy Rhoads
Jake E. Lee (Check out Badlands)
Lindsay Buckingham (Probably the most underrated of all time)
Eddie Van Halen
Jimi Hendrix
Billy Gibbons (great rythms and knows when to use an artificial harmonic)
David Gilmoure can do more with one note than most guys can do with 20.

And now you don't have to just enjoy his guitar playing, you can also enjoy:

"Carlos Santana For Men "

This smooth, woody musk fragrance was inspired by the music and passions of Carlos Santana. The aroma just after rainfall, in combination with the clean notes of Maja soap, is the essence of this timeless creation.

Now tell me, when you think of just about any of the world's greatest guitarists, do you think buying a "fragrance" with their name combines for an image that fits together?

Thank you, thank you ...thank you Bob!
Been trying so hard to remember this name! Saw him play at age 15. Then and there I figured he'd end up as the "greatest guitar player of all time" once his career is done and history looks back. (Since Vaughan died so young).

No! Don't do that, if I had more room, I would have put him on my list as well. I hesitated putting him on the list as I thought no one would have heard him play, but since I put up Phil Keaggy, Kirk recognized him and I should have added Doc.

Gary Moore (Eyeball)

Great choice ... must have the talent to be added to the Traveling Wilburys!

Anyone familiar with Waddy Wachtel? Been to many concerts over my life, whenever anyone needed that great guitarist, it always seemed if Waddy was there!

Then there are those who left us with riffs that will stick with us forever:
Robby Krieger (LA Woman)
Joe Walsh (Hotel California)
Allen Collins, Ronnie Van Zant, Gary Rossington (Free Bird)

Man ... love talking music!

Dave

Hmmm ... think maybe someday we'll be talking about Mack Danger?  ;)

OK, can't argue with any here. personal faves (in NO particular order)

jimi (check out the EMP in Seattle, a billionaire with a heart did him right)

stevie ray ( re channeled jimi and  his voodoo chile was better)

god (aka clapton)

duane allman (could play ANYTHING) and don't forget Dicky Betts!

bb king (how blue can you get?, the answers right here in my heart)

charlie christian (if you don't know him, you really don't know what you don't know)

django reinhardt (3 fingered 1930's gypsy, electricity, we don't need no stinkin electricity)

les paul (no les, no rock, no sh**, see EMP again, with kuddos to leo fender)

segovia (spanish for god)

keith richards (so, he's not a tech wizard, so what, anybody write and play riffs like that?, I think not)

santana (you wanna talk black magic?)

willie nelson( that hole in his guitar is a window to the soul)

jimmy page (hammer of the gods for god's sake)

chuck berry( only his ego is bigger, to paraphrase bob seeger, "they are ALL chuck's children")

lynrrd skynnrd (sorry, don't know the names and i am ashamed, if you can listen to 'free bird" without cranking the stereo and doing a ch dance without the ch, you got no soul bothers and sisters)

So many more but i gotta go to bed. Thanks for tweaking the memory banks and making me  think about what's good in life. you guys are awesome!

Jon
