Could someone please post or give me a link or a website that has good, free anti spyware software to load into the puter. Virus checker would be good also. I keep getting a pop-up that says the computer has detected spyware, but I'm afraid to click on it because you never know who the hell is trying to do what.

Without the usuall O/S rant. there are three things you need. 1. a decent browser. http://www.opera.com or http://mozilla.org are your basic killer browsers. Firefox is also good.
2. A Spyware killer http://adaware.com another is Sprybot search and destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
3. Forget Norton or McAfee for AntiVirus they have both been orphaned and are no longer worth a damn. get http://avast.com their home edition is currently the best. Just ahead of AVG from http://grisoft.com both are worth your time.

I've tried a hundred of them and I have found Prevx1 to be the best. Cleans what nno other programs have been able to find.

Download.com
Spybot and Ad-aware Se are good ones to use.
Also you can go to Trendmicro.com and thay have a free virus/spyware scan and removal.
