Title: Fleas! Post by ShadowLord on Jun 9th, 2006, 12:48pm Fleas have taken over my home (damned cat)! They outnumbered me and overpowered me... There's just a crappy door between them and total house takeover... Oh shit... They're crawling beneath the door! There's no escape! They won't take me alive! Uh oh... I think I heard 'em scream "No prisoners!" Help me! Arrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhh............ |

Title: Re: Fleas! Post by echo on Jun 9th, 2006, 12:57pm Soak your cat and carpets in vodka and sprinkle the area, and cat with a fine grit sand. The little bastards will get drunk and stone each other to death. |

Title: Re: Fleas! Post by Bob P on Jun 9th, 2006, 1:18pm Bug bombs worked well for our two takeovers (I should have left the fuckin cat in the house when we bombed, she's now 24 y/o and still going strong). |

Title: Re: Fleas! Post by Mattrf on Jun 9th, 2006, 2:49pm There is a lot of info on the net about how to get rid of these little buggers. Bottom line is the flea bomb will kill the fleas but will not kill the eggs so you need to bomb several times to get rid of them, I think it is like a three week gap between bombings but it could be two not sure but you defiantly need to do it several times to get them all and keep them from coming right back. Hope this helps. |

Title: Re: Fleas! Post by Donna_D. on Jun 9th, 2006, 2:58pm Grab you a box of Mortons Salt and sprinkle it liberally over your carpets throughout the house. Wait 24 hours and vacuum the salt and dead fleas up. Problem solved. No. Really. DD |

Title: Re: Fleas! Post by Paul98 on Jun 9th, 2006, 3:20pm Use Frontline on your cat. Vacuume regularly. Re-treat cat after 1 month. Keep cat out of bedroom areas. The fleas will prefer the cat over humans. The Frontline is very good for fleas, lice and ticks and it works!!! -P. |

Title: Re: Fleas! Post by Kris_in_SJ on Jun 9th, 2006, 8:19pm Frontline Plus!!!! After years of flea problems, I found it to be the only thing that works. It not only kills the fleas, but prevents them from laying eggs. Meantime, you still have to bomb the house a couple times or try the salt thing? to get rid of the overload. Oh, yes ... avoid wearing white socks. Fleas are attracted to white and will eat your legs alive! Once flea-ridden, but now flea-free .... Kris |

Title: Re: Fleas! Post by ShadowLord on Jun 10th, 2006, 7:29am Cat's gone... Ran away... Or maybe the fleas threw it out... Dunno. I've so far used flea powder, spray, and a few bug bombs to try to get rid of these damned things... Each time, within a day, they come back, and they're pissed. Gonna try the Borax and salt idea I read somewhere after payday (Don't even have enough money for salt right now... LOL). Prolly if I would vacuum the floor once in a while, they wouldn't've gotten so bad, but my wife took the vacuum when she moved. Maybe I should stop buyin' beer so I can afford a new vacuum... Nah... As long as the fleas don't figure out how to open the fridge, then they ain't bad enough for that yet. PFDAN........................................................... ShadowLord |

Title: Re: Fleas! Post by cootie on Jun 12th, 2006, 12:46am Advantage can work and work fast......kills fleas and alters them so the can't breed or lay normal eggs that will hath or sumthin along them lines. Little vials ya drain out on the skin on the pets neck.Kind of price but it works and stop new ones hatching that were born and fall off the pet onto the carpet. Sweeping alot disturbs and breaks then up so they can't hatch so that's sumthin ta do in the meantime. Rabbits and squirrels and even mice carry alot of flea into your house or yards to infest the house pets !!! I got so fed up years ago I sprayed all our carpet with malathion and soaked it and let it set a day. Smell was terrible and probly NOT SO SAFE but it worked........but ya gotta keep the pets off the damp or wet carpet till it dries. That woud be an extreme measure. Sum of the flea bombs damage furniture.....kind of fogs up and sticks on plastic on stereos and stuff causein it to cloud up wierd so be careful with that. I've always used the Advantage and ya can get it at a pet store now verses just a vets and ask for it. Kills fleas that jump on it from other pets too and keeps working for a while. nasty nibblers Pam |

Title: Re: Fleas! Post by Kirk on Jun 12th, 2006, 5:52am 0.4 mL Advantage on the Kitty Vacumn the house. Then Sprinkle the place with Salt. Morton's Uniodized Salt works just fine. Vacumn and resalt your house on a regular basis. Flea and Ear mite eggs hatch in 14 days. The problem with Bug Bombs is that the vapors get into places like your dishes and Linens. On the other hand this is one of their advantages. I would try the salt and the Advantage first. [smiley=twocents.gif] |
