Title: That was awesome....... Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Jun 7th, 2006, 9:02am First of all..... Id like to really thank everyone who insisted that I talk to my doc and get Imitrex self injecotrs. I'm a needle wimp and I'm also very paranoid about having weird reactions to new stuff so I don't really do well with trying new treatments for stuff. Last night at the regular 'Beast' visitation hours, I woke up with a visit that I'm sure would have turned into a trip down stairs to beat my head against the floor for at least 45 minutes. I was still paranoid about actually taking the shot so I had my wife hit me with it and promise to pull it away before I got all 6 mgs. I got about 2 mgs of the Imitrex and asked her to stay up with me for a while to make sure I'd be OK. (I think I survived) I was starting to think that I either didn't get enough or it just wasn't going to work. Suddenly, all that was left was a very low key shadow. I couldn't believe it. I actually went back to sleep less than 10 minutes after it woke me up instead of screaming, pacing, cursing, etc.... Thanks again to all who helped out. I am still planning on trying O2 when I can. I'd rather save the Imitrex shots for extreme moments. That shit's to expensive to be using to much. |

Title: Re: That was awesome....... Post by pattik on Jun 7th, 2006, 9:22am It's great to hear you had such good results. You'll probably find that the pain of the needle pales by comparison to the beast. Yeah, it's expensive, but when those really bad ones arrive, the stuff can be truly amazing. Try the O2. It can fill in for all those more moderate level headaches. Nice to hear success stories. ;;D |

Title: Re: That was awesome....... Post by Paul98 on Jun 7th, 2006, 9:35am exploding- You really ought to use the single dose vial instead of the autoinject. I know you are averse to needles but once you try it, you will like it. Pulling out early with the autoinject is a real waste of trex. Believe me there will be a time you wish you had the 4mg that was wasted. 1/2 ml insulin syringe w/ 27 ga. needle gives great control over dose, no waste and the needle is so small you really don't feel it at all. Glad the trex worked for you. It really is a godsend. -P. |

Title: Re: That was awesome....... Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Jun 7th, 2006, 10:01am I already have the trex tip printed up and I'm going to try it. I just pulled early the first time to make sure I have a minimum if there was a reaction. |

Title: Re: That was awesome....... Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Jun 7th, 2006, 10:06am My wife did the shot for me last night. I only had to tell her 5 times that one stab was enough. [smiley=huh.gif] |

Title: Re: That was awesome....... Post by unsolved1 on Jun 7th, 2006, 10:51am You never can really tell how much you got in there when you try to pull out early. (that's what she said) If you must use the auto injector and you don't want the full dose, you need to either do the Imitrex tip or take apart the injector and waste some of the Trex before actually jabbing yourself with it. Pulling out early is not a good idea (she said that too) Glad to hear it worked for you! You now have a new weapon against the beast! Goodluck UNsolved |

It's not so bad now is it ? Glad to hear it works for you. We'll worth the price of admission. Now split those doses and save some cash will ya. ;) |

Title: Re: That was awesome....... Post by ExplodingEyeBall on Jun 8th, 2006, 10:55am Bad night last night. Rebound HA? Never knew what it was but I think I do now. I usually only get hit bad at night and then it's usually only once. I got hit hard twice last night and I've been hurting pretty bad all morning today. I'm shadowing pretty heavy right now. I do have some questions about splitting though. Maybe DJ can get the answers to these questions on that page over there <<<<<<<. I understand all of the instructions about how to split. It is very straight forward and I experimented a little with a spent stat dose last night but my biggest concern is where to put the needle when I do it. If my wife is helping it's not a problem. I know that your supposed to hit a fatty area and she can find my ass pretty easy (It's hard to miss since I quit smoking) If I'm doing this myself though, where is the best place to inject myself where I can actually see how much trex I'm getting? Also...... How do you store the partially used dose after you use 2mg. Put it back in the pen and return it to the holder? Thanks for all the help everybody. My next quest is to find out about getting O2 and the right type of mask. I don't know if my insurance will cover that. |

Title: Re: That was awesome....... Post by Jasmyn on Jun 8th, 2006, 12:44pm Just put it back in the little blue holder. http://www.medicalmultimediagroup.com/pated/shoulder_problems/deltoid.jpg Inject yourself in the Deltoid then you'll be able to see the amount you inject. |
