I have broadband ... my computer is usually pretty danm fast.
So....
How come this place is so slow ?? It's so frustrating ! I click on a thread and wait and wait and wait. I can have another window open surfing the web accessing many pages before 1 thread opens here. I can download MP3's many times faster than it takes to open up a single page here.

What's the deal ? everytime I come here it's like taking a trip back to dial-up days  ::)

It happens at certain times of the day to me also. right now its changing pages fast for me though.

Could be the growth of the board.

"Just" the general board in 2002 was.

1703 threads..... 23102 posts

In 2004 it was.

5344 threads...... 87233 posts

DJ told me that the reason you cant use the "Last 10 posts" search is cause threads are going up so fast it blew that function away, thats why I bust balls when someone is throwing up 5-6 BS threads a day.

Hm mm, you may be right. If the ISP's are logging where you go then use of a proxy would be useless. They would be able to sample any page or image you viewed and know it goes to your IP address. The only thing that they might not know is the actually servers you are going to because you would be always pointing to the proxy.

LOL I forgot to answer the question. How fast the page is served up depends on a lot of things. The biggest is this site shares a server with a lot of sites, interestingly enough, some porn sites. If DJ could afford a dedicated server, then the site would be faster. Since he cannot, you will have to bear with a slow site on some days. I guess if everyone would stop surfing pr0n then CH.com would be faster.

Sherbet, it is morning here on the Southern tip of the other side of the world and there is near to no-one on site as most of you are asleep.  I have cable but it still is bloody slow!

Some days just feel like Mondays ::)

Ag, stop complaining Jazz besides you have the time and it is always fun talking to the voices in your head... which one?... The one you are just talking to... Two voices?... No bloody hell, me!... A little bit slow this morning, aren't you?... Shuttup!

It is usually slow for me, and I am on a 5mb+ line!

It also won't notify me when I try to use the "notify me of replys" function.

It's 3:37am here. Have broadband connection and it is running like a hummingbird on bennies.
