Title: Still Needed--feels good :)
Post by pattik on May 26th, 2006, 2:32pm
I just got a call from my very "grown-up" daughter who needed some advice from Dr. Mom.  She just got 6 bee stings
on her leg (no, she's not allergic), and needed some home remedy advice.  I hope the bee suffers a painful death- ;;D
Anyway, although the apron strings are slowly being cut, it sure feels good to still be needed. ;)

I agree.  It is always a welcome call when my adult children call for a little fatherly advise.

I'm glad you're the kind of mom a girl can depend on in a pinch...my mom would have told me what a dummy I was getting stung six times, and I should have done this or that...I would LOVE to have a mom I can call for advise and actually get loving, sound advise.... :D

Pattik, that really made me smile...

Sometimes my kids will call me and ask.."how did you make that wonderful meatloaf?"    or "my baby has a fever.  What do I do"  or the latest......

"Can you come here and clean my apartment?"

       nope.

;;D

I don't have to call my mum to get "advice"... She gives them at emails, messenger conversations, text messages... I love her and respect the things she knows, but I do wish that she would wait for me to actually ASK for advice about something before giving any. You see, I get advice relating to things I don't need it and if I don't do as she says, she is bit upset. So I am afraid to ask her, when I do need her advice/opinion about things... :(

I bet that kids will always need their parents, no matter how grown up they are.  :)

It is great when they ask for your advise, because they have matured to a point where they realize that you've been right 99.999% of the time. But they also love to call and somehow work in that they're broke and could use some money.
