Taylor has more personality.......Kat is good too but seems a bit stuck up or DULL and not real spontaneous as far as personality. Should that count ? I was a bit shocked when Chris got cann'd Pam

How lame were the two "debut" singles? Geez.
Those poor kids had to sing those overly indulgent pieces of fluff - and then the choirs come out to sing with both.
And then Randy Jackson, whose criticism two different times was regarding the idea that he'd heard them sing it before and was concerned about hearing it again -- Idol made them re-sing two songs last night.
It is, just like past idols, a lot more fun to watch the early parts of the season than the end.
I think Kat would be easier for them to package and sell than Taylor. Look what they did with that little gal from last season. She was a cutie too, and barely able to get anything below her neck to even sway with music if you remember. (She danced worse than Taylor).
Taylor will end up like Bo Bice, singing in bars within 12 months.

I would buy Taylor's CD.  And Bo Bice has a CD out as well.  I wish Bo would have won last year.  And according to dialidol.com, Taylor is going to win.

No....the choir I used to be in, Essence of Joy, has soul.  Lots of singers have soul.

Taylor is spazzy.  It pains me to watch his face while he sings.  LOL

Well, in my opinion, I do not think he is spazzy.  In my opinion, I think he has soul. And in my opinion, I think that he's a good singer.

I have to agree that the last 2 pieces totally and complete sucked.  They need a new songwriter and to change with the times!  They've been doing pieces like that at the end every year.  It's almost like the lead songwriter for a Disney show wrote them.  Gag me...  And the nice little key change up in every single one of them?  Trendy little pop tool which is way overused.

Really the only performance I truly liked of the entire night was Katharine's "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and I thought it was a true credit to her that her ear bugs weren't even working and she still started EXACTLY on pitch.  Wow.  That's a skill many trained musicians can't master.  I was very impressed by that.

The reason I don't like Taylor's voice is because the way he sings is hurting that voice.  When he started last night, I could tell that his voice was actually sounding half gone.  Sure, he carried it off - but if he didn't do that "soul-considered" style of singing, he wouldn't have been able to.  True tone was not all there.  Think of Rod Stewart's voice for instance.  If Taylor keeps on singing like this, that's what he's going to sound like some day.  Some people love Rod Stewart but listening to him makes my own vocal cords hurt!

Just my 2 cents ;)

I did hate that My Heaven song by Carrie Underwood and A Moment Like This.  True belty screamy pop songs with no chance to allow someone to really sing!  Ugh...

I think Taylor is Spazzy...and kinda cool.  I like him.  

My favorite song is "American Dreamz - Dreamz with a 'Z'"

Taylor got it but I didn't see the entire show.....I'm not hooked on it or nothin and worked outside since it was NICE out.....caught the last hour and I'm starting to associate American Idol with Survivor. Ya know ? They really put em thru alot mentally and physically in all sorts of ways and seems it's gettin to be alot about 'insults and picking apart and public embarassment' which I guess is all part of weeding out a WINNER. Sumtimes it just seems a bit barbaric. But I guess we enjoy watchin others squrim and see how they take 'bad news' and insults in public. Make em or break em Pam

Last night really showed me that Taylor and Kat though very talented weren't the best talent on the show.  Its definately a popularity contest.  Seeing the girls, past sing.  Mandesa and the young ones... names escape me. Their harmonly etc.  For the guys I still say Chris had the best voice going and then Elliot, maybe Taylor and Ace, Bucky and Chicken Little weren't Idol material to me.  I forgot how beautiful the voices of Melissa and Lisa were til last night they should all be commended for their hard work...   I might also add the 13th idol... Ayla from Boston... our Boston Idol... she actually was just an act at the Kiss108 Concert here in Mass and friends that went thought she was the bomb... another Idol down it will be fun to see who and what happens next... love to you all Ree............
I love this reality show stuff... I'm hopin we have a new Batchelor or Batchelorette soon too...
