Title: It's that time of the year again... Post by sandie99 on May 18th, 2006, 12:20pm ...when the Eurovision Song Contest is held! This time the contest is held in Athens, Greece. Here's more info about ESC: http://www.eurovision.tv/english/index.htm Why I'm posting about it today? Well, because in tonight's semifinal we'll find out which countries will make it to the Saturday's final. And my home country Finland is, once again ( [smiley=laugh.gif]) trying to get a place in the final. This year our song is titled "Hard Rock Hallelujah" and it's performed by Lordi. These chaps: http://www.drakkar.de/images/lordi_pic_008.jpg Now, don't they look like a box of kittens...? ;;D Here's more about them:http://www.lordi.org/ The semifinal begins within 2 hours. Now, Lordi might not be my fave band - I don't know their music that well - but the tune is catchy, for the first time we actually have a SHOW to send and there has never been that much talk about Finland's entry to ESC than there has been this year. In this thing, all publicity is bad publicity... :D Our experts think that Lordi will make it to the final and then has a real shot... Well, I've been watching Eurovision Song Contests closely since 1991 and I have never predicted the winner correctly just twice (and top 5 correctly 5 times) - it's one unpredictable contest. Lordi made it to the final!!! ;;D ;;D ;;D We're excited, of course! ;) Now, let's see if Finland makes Eurovision Song Contest history on Saturday. This is our own history already; this is the first time we got a place in the final at semifinal. On Saturday, there are 24 countries performing. The biggest favourite is Sweden. Post by sandie99 on May 20th, 2006, 3:37am Tonight is the final! :) For the first time in years (I've been watching the contest since 1991) I'm very excited about it. Can't wait to see all the perfomances and hear how Finland does! Some experts predict that Finland will be 3-6th this year and Sweden will win.
