Title: Maggi's turn to go to doggy heaven Post by purpleydog on May 13th, 2006, 9:17am I had to put my dog Maggi down last night. She had been in a lot of pain from her spine and hips degenerating, and the pain meds weren't cutting it anymore. Also, she got real thin over the last couple weeks, the vet thought the cancer she had, and beat, 7 years ago came back, but I wouldn't let them do anymore testing, x-rays, etc. The main reason was I knew it would hurt her, but also, there was no point. I knew this day was coming. She and my other dog, Murphy (aka purpleydog) were best buddies. They did eveything together. She was an 11 1/2 year old weimaraner, full of energy all the time. She couldn't just walk, she always had to trot, and she loved chasing squirrels and rabbits. She would even take off after the deer in the woods near our house, I think she thought they were other dogs. Just like Murphy was, she was a happy dog :) , and she was very intelligent, and intuitive. She would crouch behind a single tall blade of grass, and get ready to pounce on Murphy when they were younger. He would pretend to not see her. She was hialrious. [smiley=laugh.gif] She was 11 1/2 years old, and it was her time. And she was my favorite doggy too. I will miss her so much. She was the best dog. :'( http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b6dc09b3127cce972026a984c900000016108AYs3LJs5cNz |

Title: Re: Maggi's turn to go to doggy heaven Post by Cathi04 on May 13th, 2006, 9:36am Oh, Chris, Maggie was beautiful! I'm so sorry! I know Maggie is up, romping with Murphy, out of misery and watching over you. I know how hard it is to let go. Hawkeye had to be put down 11 yrs ago. His kidneys failed. To this day, if I see a shitz-zu, especially if it is a golden color with white floppy ears, I am tempted to drop to my knees and hold it, tears streaming down my face. Noone was ever like my Hawkeye. My sympathy, Chris. Cathi :-/ |

Title: Re: Maggi's turn to go to doggy heaven Post by jon019 on May 15th, 2006, 12:18am Dear Chris, No one who has looked into the eyes of a beloved friend, and lost them, will ever be the same. You have written beautifully about M & M, and I know they had a wonderful life with you and your family. You can do no more except to remember them. "When you are sorrowful, look again in your heart and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. Joy and sorrow are inseparable" Kahil Gibran My condolences, Jon |

Title: Re: Maggi's turn to go to doggy heaven Post by superhawk2300 on May 15th, 2006, 6:39am In all seriousness and with no disrespect to anyone I will tell you I'd rather have a CH attack than hear news like this. I am a dog person through and through and regard my dogs "better" than most people. Lots of people told me that would change when I had my child but it did not, I knew it would not. I was given an indian name once, during a pilgrimage I made - it is Bigger Dog. Oddly enough I had a dream Saturday night that MY dog fell from a bridge and died. If anyone tells you "It was just a dog, its not like they were kids or something" burn their house down and tell them "It was just your house - it wasn't even alive"and see if theyunderstand. Some people cry at the loss of material possesions but think animals are less than possessions - I don't get it. May peace find you when you are ready for it. I am thinking of you. Jamey |
