Post by minnie on May 1st, 2006, 9:27pm Yes I love the show only one problem. Why do they only have pretty women holding the cases.I think every other show should have some gorgeous guys to even it out.Other than that it's cool I tivo and just saw that woman have the 1 million dollar case but she made a deal with a few cases to go.still walked away with a hefty sum,she was the first person so far to pick the right case. If the banker offered me $250,000 I would walk even with good odds.umm....I think ::) would choose my lucky # 3 Minnie yep I have no life but hope to someday win enough to buy one ;;D |

Title: Re: Deal or No Deal? Post by clarence on May 2nd, 2006, 8:04am I think 24 is the best thing going on TV right now, and has been for a while. I still think Extreme Makeover Home Edition is the most socially irresponsible and unethical show that has ever been created. But, that's just me. Really, pretty much only me. Casey |

Title: Re: Deal or No Deal? Post by cekelle on May 2nd, 2006, 9:01am Me and Karen love the show. We usually make it point to watch it. Crap! We forgot it was on last night. Go figure....such dedicated fans we are! :) However, we do enjoy it when we get to watch it. And about the kids watching TV, I must say I love the V-Chip! Hide the remote and they are totally lost! They just can't figure out how to watch TV if the remote is "missing". It's so tortureous to them, but yet so funny to us adults! ;;D |

24 is TVs best show, I agree. However, I have no idea what your are talking about Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Socially irresponsible? Unethical? (is there some unread sarcasm there?) I like reality TV but not Idol. Survivor, Earl, 2.5 Men, and 24 are my faves. EM: Home edition is also a favorite. Now, Extreme Makeover (the original) was unethical and socially irresponsible in my eyes. I love Game Shows so Deal or no Deal is a must see as well. (Distraction though is extremely funny). |

Post by Kris_in_SJ on May 2nd, 2006, 9:00pm Only bad thing about "Deal or No Deal" is the number of commercials Guess that's why they can afford to pay out all that big money! I must confess that I'm also addicted, especially on Mondays when I can watch The Apprentice right after. Kris |

Title: Re: Deal or No Deal? Post by clarence on May 2nd, 2006, 10:59pm The Extreme Makeover Home Edition is a personal peeve of mine. Almost no one agree with me on this. For my reasoning, see my post here, though I haven't updated the site in quite a while (to my shame): http://www.translucentbeauty.net/community/viewtopic.php?t=6 and http://www.translucentbeauty.net/community/viewtopic.php?t=56 I honestly think the show is not nearly as altruistic as it makes itself out to be, and maybe even a little bit evil. But hey, what do I know? Casey |

clarence: I agree with your points but fail to see how it is socially irresponcible or unethical. It is a TV show not a non-profit mission group. I don't think any of the "extreme team" are superheroes but TV personalities. I do think it is better to have this show on TV where they at least use their resources to help people and help organizations get the word out than have another CSI or sitcom. Anyway, I like the show and I think they are top of the heap in social responsibility and ethics. Remember, they can't help everyone but some people and charities are getting help that they need badly because of a primetime TV show. That is better than nothing. Either way, I respect your opinion but we don't agree on your conclusion. Your points are valid though. |

Title: Re: Deal or No Deal? Post by clarence on May 3rd, 2006, 3:38pm FramCire, I appreciate the fairness with which you approach the topic. I will just say that I think it is because of the fact that it is a TV show that makes it irresponsible. Specifically, it is under the guise of doing good in an altruistic manner that the television network and all sponsors make gobs of money. If it was not a profitable venture, it would not be a television show. However, the show presents itself as just some people doing good. CSI, or better, one of the other home improvement shows on, for instance, TLC, are much more honest in that there are few misconceptions about the show's purpose: making money. I also think that there are ethical implications of the selection process. But hey, I am used to being disagreed with. No hurt feelings. My wife won't talk to me about it anymore, and she says I ruin tv for her. Go figure. Casey |

I find every once in awhile I just need to stop watching it at all. And listen to radio for awhile so I don't just stew over the "crap" on TV. My wife likes to watch the "entertainment news" programs from 7 till 8. If there was something I would like to imagine being a cluster trigger it is these shows. Then at least I would have a reason for them to never be "on" in my house. But no such luck. Scott |

The only thing I see is bad, is who wants to live in a house that was whacked together in 7 days? Fixing all the mistakes must cost someone a fortune. The recipients probably had to sign a gag order so know one knows what really happens when the team leaves. Opus/Paull |
