Title: I guess it doesn't matter what you know Post by Dragnlance on Apr 27th, 2006, 7:38pm Judging from some of the posts, today is just a plain lousey day. I finally got notice today that I did not get the job I have been wanting. This is the second time in a year, and only the 4th time in the last eight years that a position has come open in the I.S. Department. And the second time I did not get the job, because, and I quote, "The choice was made because the other Tech had worked in the department before as interim". Even my boss was shocked. Why the fuck do you bother to post an opening if you already know who you are going to hire, no matter what the qualifications are? He even told me that my experience and knowledge were superior to this other guy, but because he was given to work an interim position last summer for 2 months, and I was not, I get to rot in my current position until I leave the company. I will be off the boards for a few days, because I am depressed and don't want to inflict it on my friends here. I wanted this job a great deal more than I was willing to admit to even myself. Thanks for all your vibes, even if they didnt help. Dragn |

I'll join you! having a shit week W the B Dubya da Bee |

Title: Re: I guess it doesn't matter what you know Post by Grandma_Sweet_Boy on Apr 27th, 2006, 7:58pm Lance - this is family and it means we stick it out through the good and the bad with you. I'm sorry you didn't get the position you wanted and I understand your feeling of wanting to just "turtle" for a while, but you'd be wiser to stick around and rant for a while until it's out of your system. Hang in there - Carol |

Title: Re: I guess it doesn't matter what you know Post by medic1852 on Apr 27th, 2006, 8:05pm Lance I am sorry you did not get the promotion. But dont let the depression of that keep you from here. Hell I might say something stupid and get busted on and you would miss it. Or maybe Jonny will get a haircut and post the video of it happening and you would not be here to see it... Rodger |

Title: Re: I guess it doesn't matter what you know Post by Chillrmn1 on Apr 27th, 2006, 8:13pm That does suck and I know how it feels, it's happened to me and I'm sure many others here also. Like W the B said it's what some companies do and it's not personal. Be strong and don't give up, next time a position you want opens, get another resume in, perseverance pays. Peace to ya. |

Title: Re: I guess it doesn't matter what you know Post by Opus on Apr 27th, 2006, 8:48pm Lance, Sounds like your employer is like what I now deal with in my local. It's not what you know, or what you can do. It's who you know and who you do. Time to get out. Opus/Paul |

Oh no you don't. Get your ass up off thre floor, back to work, and start pumping out resume's to companies that will appreciate your skills. This is not the end of the world, but only an indication that better times or oportunities are ahead. You didn't get the position you want, but you are still employed with trmendous potential. Look for a place that appreciates that potential . Aside from all of tha stuff, i'm really sorry this one didn't go the way you wanted. :( [[[[[L]]]} |

Title: Re: I guess it doesn't matter what you know Post by Kevin_M on Apr 27th, 2006, 9:13pm How about some time for a Digital Phantasy Dragn. What would this surface look like if you were on it: Pockets of liquid water may exist near the surface of Saturn's icy moon Enceladus, the apparent source of huge Yellowstone-type geysers seen erupting from the moon's south polar region by NASA's Cassini spacecraft, scientists reported today. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11736311/ It'll be a loooong time before we can get there. How about a visual of the landscape to last us Dragn, or maybe some aquatic life forms below the surface ice. Maybe like this. [smiley=girlflash.gif] |

Title: Re: I guess it doesn't matter what you know Post by Melissa on Apr 27th, 2006, 9:30pm Honey, I hate to say it, but there is always a reason things work out the way they do. If you can learn to read the signs, and heed them, your life will go a lot more smoothly and you'll be more content. I'm sorry you didn't get the position, but think of this as a way to just go with the flow with what you've got. BIG HUGS, :-*mel |

Staying alone and home, depressed, won't help. Perhaps, in a way or another, the lot in here will find a way to cheer you up! :) Sanna |
