Judging from some of the posts, today is just a plain lousey day.

I finally got notice today that I did not get the job I have been wanting. This is the second time in a year, and only the 4th time in the last eight years that a position has come open in the I.S. Department. And the second time I did not get the job, because, and I quote, "The choice was made because the other Tech had worked in the department before as interim".
Even my boss was shocked. Why the fuck do you bother to post an opening if you already know who you are going to hire, no matter what the qualifications are? He even told me that my experience and knowledge were superior to this other guy, but because he was given to work an interim position last summer for 2 months, and I was not, I get to rot in my current position until I leave the company.

I will be off the boards for a few days, because I am depressed and don't want to inflict it on my friends here. I wanted this job a great deal more than I was willing to admit to even myself.

Thanks for all your vibes, even if they didnt help.

Depression and venting it is a requirement here isn't it? We are angry clusterheads!
and advertising jobs for the sake of "form" or "good practice" when they one person with power or influence has already decided who will get the job is what bloody companies do, it isn't personal

Lance - this is family and it means we stick it out through the good and the bad with you.

I'm sorry you didn't get the position you wanted and I understand your feeling of wanting to just "turtle" for a while, but you'd be wiser to stick around and rant for a while until it's out of your system.

Lance I am sorry you did not get the promotion. But dont let the depression of that keep you from here. Hell I might say something stupid and get busted on and you would miss it. Or maybe Jonny will get a haircut and post the video of it happening and you would not be here to see it...

That does suck and I know how it feels, it's happened to me and I'm sure many others here also. Like W the B said it's what some companies do and it's not personal.

Be strong and don't give up, next time a position you want opens, get another resume in, perseverance pays.

Oh no you don't. Get your ass up off thre floor, back to work, and start pumping out resume's to companies that will appreciate your skills. This is not the end of the world, but only an indication that better times or oportunities are ahead. You didn't get the position you want, but you are still employed with trmendous potential. Look for a place that appreciates that potential .

Honey, I hate to say it, but there is always a reason things work out the way they do. If you can learn to read the signs, and heed them, your life will go a lot more smoothly and you'll be more content.

I'm sorry you didn't get the position, but think of this as a way to just go with the flow with what you've got.

HOPE you stick around........no fun bein depressed all by yerself when ya got others willing to listen and just be there for ya. Hell anymore I expect the worse when sumthing good is maybe goin to happen so I don't disapoint myself too much. Shit happens and then ya got to sit in the stink for a while for a nice reminder. And Sean, thanks for telling me why I never get those media summerjobs I apply every year. I did got suspicious when this 19-year-old with no qualifications and published articles did get an invite to the interview... That explains it... Now I'm off applying jobs at McDonald's - that's where my future is, according to my mum... ::)

hang in there lance the past couple of weeks Pegg has watched me deal with some idiots who have caused me alot of financial problems.( they refuse to pay their bills for the work I have done) and it has made work difficult at times, I have taken on other contracts and have toughed it out. I can see the light and I have done more than my share of venting (Pegg would agree) so vent away and hang in there .. Best wishes.. Jody
