Title: Daughters Neuro Visit Post by ShariRae on Apr 21st, 2006, 9:42pm Well..made out ok..there is a mass (small) but NOT on her brain..it is on the back wall of the sinus cavity..it appears a bone didnt grow right or was broken at one time (dunno when) and this mass formed and is pressing on nerves & the broken bone causing the problems (they think) She will have to go for a CAT scan & then they will schedule surgery...whew! Thank you all for your kind words..support...love & prayers.. Much Love Shari |

Title: Re: Daughters Neuro Visit Post by catlind on Apr 22nd, 2006, 9:39am That is such relieving news Shari!! I just went through a very similar thing with my 14 year old. An MRI after a severe headache (as in cluster level but he couldn't move the pain was so bad) and they told us there was a mass. A follow up MRI showed it as a mass in the sphenoid cavity. He didn't require surgery, no bone involvement, and I found out that the sphenoid cavity (the one right in front of the sella turcica where the pituitary gland is) doesn't even form until adolescence. We saw an ENT and she had him do a 21 day course of anti-biotics and steroids and everything is back to normal and no surgery needed. I hope your venture turns out as well as mine did. It's heart wrenching waiting for a child to be diagnosed then waiting for the corrective measures. I hope the surgery is smooth and uneventful and your daughter comes out of it perfect. (Alex and I now joke that he just had a really big booger in there ;) ) Cat |
