Title: bummer Post by maffumatt on Apr 17th, 2006, 3:58pm I had to fire one of my employees this morning, I went to bat for the guy so that I could hire him. Note to self, never hire a friend or family, and never go to bat for anyone. Lesson learned. Can anyone here run a locomotive and need a job? Pays not bad and the benifits are decent. Matt |

Title: Re: bummer Post by BarbaraD on Apr 17th, 2006, 4:46pm Welllll, now we'd have to get a few things straight before I'd be able to drive your train for you..... First of all I have this strange disease known as Cluster Headaches. Now when it hits me I act a "little" strange -- nothing to concern yourself about, but I may have to take off a day or two now and then -- would that be a problem??? Oh and if you touch me I'll go postal on you? Would THAT be a problem??? And I expect full health care with a RX card.... all paid holidays and a "very" understanding boss.. What'd you mean I DON'T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE???? I set up and maintained my son's train when he was little - the damn thing blew smoke and everything!!!! Are you discriminating because I'm a WOMAN!!!!!!! :) Hugs BD |

your hired except you cant miss any days, sick or not, rain sleet or snow you must show. I would hire a woman if one applied if she could run a back-hoe, and knowing you Barb, I wouldn't doubt you can do it. I just need someone who can sit in the engine and go "forwards, backwards, and stop", all day long. |

More than you know.....I quit running the engine when I realized that the diesel exhaust was killing me, its one hell of a trigger. Jean we have stocked strip pits close by, and 53 stocked ponds on the plant, some with walleye. They are sure fun to reel in |

Title: Re: bummer Post by cootie on Apr 17th, 2006, 7:34pm Brad made the mistake of hireing his brother years ago to work in his shop........that was a real nitemare and he never seen that one comeing !!! Caused alot of problems between them for a while cuz the guy didn't give a shit about anything esp his job and he was jealous of whatever Brad had he didn't have and had no plans of starting at the bottom to get anything either. He wanted to pick up where he was leaveing off. Brad'd find him not watching presses and stuff was messin up or he'd be sittin readin a magazine. Brad'd tell him to get busy and to watch the jobs cuz stuff would run off wrong and you can't pass crappy work off and keep clients. His brother would just glare at him and tell him to fuck off in front of the other guys. He'd smart off all day like that and laugh about it. What a mess that was.....so disresectful.......Brad was really upset about it. Then we had to spend alot of weekends together at cookouts and bonfire parties with mutual friends plus me and his wife were real good friends and the kids played together. When he got his devorse it got worse and Brad had to fire him. There friends now tho again and the brother has learned respect......but it was a very dark time back then. Inlaw-itis Pam |

Title: Re: bummer Post by maffumatt on Apr 18th, 2006, 6:51pm I hired a guy today, he drives an explosives truck inside the plant. His current boss gave him a glowing recomendation. Seems to be a pretty nice guy and I think he will work out fine. Get this, his boss told me he works to hard to for a union job. He said if something needed done, instead of going through proper channels and waiting weeks to get it done, he would just do it himself. He has 4 or 5 grievences against him. In other news, my boss came to help out untill I could get someone. He can not run an engine so he switched out our O/B while I ran. A knuckle fell off a car and landed on his foot. I am not sure but I think its broke. He hobbled around and finished the day but I have doubts about him being able to work in the morning, his foot was swelling pretty bad by the time we left for the day. Matt |
