Title: The Wrath of Mom - so far ;)
Post by JenniferD on Apr 12th, 2006, 5:26pm
So far Harry (my son) has been assigned:

EVERY household chore that he and my daughter usually do each day.

ALL Saturday chores, which consists of all housekeeping, cleaning up after dogs, and getting all trash together to be taken to the dump.

Laundry - every day.

All windows, inside and out, upstairs and down, cleaned.

Furniture moved, baseboards scrubbed.

All ceiling fans cleaned.

Dug by hand a 30' x 4' flowerbed, mixed in composted manure and peat, planted  8 bushes and 4 kinds of flowers.

Cleared undergrowth from the treeline to the yard.

Scrubbed and cleaned our 40' x 6' porch.

Stained above porch.

Dug for pole, concrete, and erected purple martin house.

and when we can't think of something right away, he is outside picking up even the tiniest of twigs.

(Still no word from the school board yet.)

No tv, no phone, no radio, no games, no puter.

WOW,

I just had a flashback to MY childhood.

        Is that still legal??     [smiley=laugh.gif]

I hope so, because more parents need to do this.
As a childless person, who lives around a bunch of undisiplined bunch of thieving criminals in the making,

Jen, I thank you for being a responsible parent.

Lance

umm, Jonny, you haven't figured me out yet, have you?
When I am pissed I am one tough mama.

It has not only  ALL been done, (I'll have my daughter take a few pics)  its only 5 days into his 10 day suspension and I still have PLENTY more for him to do.

He won't blister his mind in school? I'll blister his hands here!

My hubby usually says I baby him and am too soft. He now says, "Damn Honey, you're worse than me!"

added:  Thanks for the support Lance. I really am tough on my kids, but its because I love those two beyond words and I expect their best from them. They don't excel at everything and they don't need to, and I sure have had my probs with them. But they are really good kids for the most part. Even Hannah said she is glad there were times I busted hard on her, cuz now she can see why. Now its Harry's turn.

Good for you Jennifer.  I'm sure he'll look back on this later in life and hate you immensely LOL, but I bet he'll grudgingly agree that it did him good.

I'm amazed that there is another parent out there that assigns chores, according to my kids NO ONE does chores -- they are the only children that are so ill done to they have chores to do.  Hell I don't even make them do that much, take out the trash, cleaning kitchen and loading and unloading dishwasher, dog poop and on Sat. they each have 3 rooms to clean (one of them being their bedrooms).  The littlest (5 yr old) only has his room to do and gather up the garbage from the bathrooms.

I'll save this post and print it out so they can see just how good they have it! ;)

They're gonna hate us regardless, LOL. Just tell your kids what I tell mine everytime they say I'm being...mean, unfair, etc.... "Write it down, so you can discuss it with your therapist when you're an adult."  ;;D

LOL Nani, that's what my hubby always says -- "Don't worry about it, they will hate us anyway, when their 40 and seeing their therapist the therapist can sort out how mean we were"

We laugh and mock that attitude, but we surely weren't allowed to blame our parents for our screw ups, we had to actually take responsibility, speaking in general terms of course.

Chores are good for kids and better for parents - less we have to do ;)

Er GIRLS??!
See the problems you have when you have a willy?! You have no idea what a DAY's work involves!

So far today I have got up cooked breakfast, loaded and unloaded the dishwasher twice and the washing machine three times (and tumble dryer)
I've stripped and remade four beds, hoovered the bedrooms and hallway.
I've cleaned the bathroom (think three kids - GUNGE!)
I've fed the cat (that time of year already?!  ::) ;) )
I've made a casserole for dinner and I've made cakes.
I've washed the kitchen floor and tidied and swept the living room and dusted
Oh and I've cleaned the downstairs cloakroom too.
I've sent out some recycling envelopes for OUCH and written four cards out.
I've been up for five hours (lie in - rough night) and I haven't pushed myself at all today.
I've now got three baskets of ironing to do and a cake to ice along with filling a dozen smaller cakes with jam and buttercream for #2 brats birthday tomorrow.

Jonny not only is that list doable.. the little beggar is getting off lightly!
Jen, make him do "mom's" jobs for a week.. he'll be crawling around the floor begging for mercy!  [smiley=laugh.gif]

Jen-

Sounds like a weekend at my house except I don't have kids and I didn't get suspended.  LOL.  Hard work is good for the mind from time to time.
