Title: A Suggestion....... Post by Cathi04 on Apr 8th, 2006, 11:04pm I am sick and tired of trolls dropping in to create havoc around here. They stir up trouble, turn clusterfriends against each other, cause mistrust amongst the the entire bunch, and generally make life miserable........... BUT- If you'd just ignore their posts, quit playing into their slimy hands, they would ,eventually, go away. It's simple. If you come across a post by one of these known trolls, IGNORE it! There are plenty of people here who genuinely need Clusterville, let's give THEM our energy, rather than these bottom-feeders who are wasting TOO MONY peoples' energy! It's just a thought......... Wishing you PF tonight, Cathi |

Title: Re: A Suggestion....... Post by AussieBrian on Apr 8th, 2006, 11:14pm A nice thought too, Cath. I remain in contact with a number of CHeads and supporters who now choose to avoid ch.com because of all the politics and carry on. Means I have to spend a lot more time on emails when I could be out fishing but I'll keep doing it anyway. As you say, simply don't reply. |

Hey, you're the one with the funny hat and slippers. I meant not replying to the bad guys. It worries me that some newcomer who is CH+ and desperately in need of help and support might take one look at some this rubbish and leave empty-handed. That would be a shame as we've so much to offer. |

Heh! I know that. I suppose I was trolling Cathi in ironic honor of her post. Good points though. Just playing Cath... was trolling in a 'trolls suck' thread. |

Title: Re: A Suggestion....... Post by Jasmyn on Apr 9th, 2006, 12:30am I'm, in total agreement with Cathi and Mr Brain. These trolls need attention, that is what they crave and we all feed them what they want if we answer to their posts. All we need is for Jonny and the other troll busters to identify these people for us, maybe place their names at the top of the board. Then we can all stay clear of troll posts without getting into a tangle with them. New people will then also know not to trust what a person on that list advises and the long drawn out battles will be at an end. |

Title: Re: A Suggestion....... Post by Rock_Lobster on Apr 9th, 2006, 12:36am It would be really nice to have an ignore list as we do for IM's. I wonder if YaBB 2 might have that feature? |

Title: Re: A Suggestion....... Post by sandie99 on Apr 9th, 2006, 1:55am Good post, Cathi! :) I've had enough of those trolls, too. Sanna edited to add: I'm in cycle now and I when I come here the last thing I need is to see certain persons causing constant trouble. I come here for support, advices, med info. Seeing members of my clusterfamily constantly attacked just gets my BP up! >:( I'm peace-loving person, but I have my limits too. |

Title: Re: A Suggestion....... Post by Jonny on Apr 9th, 2006, 2:33am Believe me when I tell you that DJ is aware of all these trolls......Ive brought each name up more than once. I suggest you PM DJ if you have a problem with anyone on the board, ive done my part! If I was administrator these fucks would have been gone long ago!! |

Title: Re: A Suggestion....... Post by cardogman on Apr 9th, 2006, 6:31am I absolutelty agree with all of you these trolls must go. Wait a minute am I one of them. Ah just because this is a clusterheadache site doesn't mean we can't have fun. Friends screw around with eachother all the time. So I think the troll thing is overblown a little. Think about this you have the first experience with clusterheadaches and find this site and the first post you happen on is somebody telling somebody else to die. Can you imagine what that person would think. You have to admit that's funny shit. I would be off the chair laughing at the reaction of that person. Or seeing somebody with a rolling message calling someone else gay and telling him to put on a dress. Burt |

There is no wisdom in banning someone if they can just come back under a different name and continue the crap. It becomes a never ending pain is the A$$ for DJ. Just ignore it! Otherwise this place turns into just another place that folks avoid. The arguement that if an idiot is allowed to post drivel that newbies will be given the wrong impression is B.S. Idiots always need the last word. |

Title: Re: A Suggestion....... Post by Paul98 on Apr 9th, 2006, 7:08am Yes, banning is futile. There is much more to this site than the daily chat. I have responded to many, many new people that only posted to the guest book section. Some stay, some move on. If they move on it dosn't mean they did not benifit from dropping in. Some bantering and bickering is to be expected and I actually find it enjoyable. I don't fidn it funny if I see a direct attack on a friend or someone new. -P. |

Title: Re: A Suggestion....... Post by pattik on Apr 9th, 2006, 10:37am If you see that CHtom or cardogman have started posts, don't even open them...they enjoy watching the "times read" numbers go up. And if you see that they have intervened in a post that you are interested in, DO NOT RESPOND in any way....ignore, ignore, ignore. Shunning works, but it has to be universal. |

Title: Re: A Suggestion....... Post by Cathi04 on Apr 9th, 2006, 10:56am Thank you, Patti...you've got it! I never said a word about banning. It's a good idea that simply feeds into their lil plans. A child either gets positive attention, or he goes for the negative attention. Identifying these people isnt gonna do it, obviously, they change their names! BUT If you see their names attached to a post or heading a thread and you ignore it,as does everyone else, they will move on to stir the pot elsewhere. Rock, thank you for clarifying. Jonny, thank you for always looking out for us. As for me, I feel these guys really WANT you to post something vile back at them, coz then they have fodder..... no fuel for their fire, and soon,, POOF........they're gone......... Cathi |

Good post! :) I do think that trolls will never leave complitely; causing trouble is their drug. What comes to ignoring... I can do that. Sanna |

Bingo! Brian. I ALREADY feel like I have not done enough or helped enough people around here who are hurting, as it is. :-/ If I was new & came here looking for help right now. TODAY, and saw this crap below ....I'd go look for advice, and information elsewhere. Anywhere else. and never get the support and info that DJ intended this site to be when he started it. How terribly sad. Linda |
