with my spinal tap tomorrow morning. I need everyone to send 'NO CSF Headache' vibes.

I do NOT want to do this, unfortunately that stupid tumor/cyst in my brain insists that they check the intercranial cerebral pressure.

I'll be able to post updates on Wed. I hope, as tomorrow I have to be on complete rest and possibly longer depending on whether I get a CSF Headache. If it gets real bad, they already said they would consider a blood patch, and the anaestheologist told me to drink water water water and lots and lots of tea. He also said he will hook up IV fluids and administer caffeine directly through the IV -- apparently hyperhydrating can help to avoid a CSF Headache.

Here's hoping all goes well!

I'm with Paul - I had one in 2001, and I was scared to death because of seeing things on tv, hearing people talk about them, etc.

A senior resident did mine and a med student was in the room - they explained every step of the process to kind of ease my nerves. I had my teddy bear - that helped too LOL :)

It wasn't too bad, overall! Had to lay flat for an hour. Didn't get a CSF headache, but already had a very bad headache as it was, which was why I got the tap.

Hoping that it goes well and that everything is fine with the pressures!

Cat hon all the vibes I can send headed your way.especially the no headache ones.sounds like you have a caring competent ~~ana....anna...anne~~ [smiley=huh.gif] um sleepy gas dr. I had a spinal tap when I had mennagitis I was already in a lot of pain but I honestly don't remember it being bad.you have my phone # call if ya want or if you want to talk to my teddy bear I had with me (Billy) I can give you his phone #.I know he'll answer any questions he can.crossing my fingers til I hear the results Wednesday.

MUCHO good look vibes on the process......the thought of it makes me cringe cuz I have a very touchy spine........now is that similar to the epidurals when ya have babies type ha's if ya lift yer head too soon ? I had alot of ha's after I had my kid.......even went to the ER once for a migraine and the doc mentiond sinus but I didn't have a cold or anything wrong. Good lucker Pam

Well the tap itself wasn't fun, she couldn't find the right spot and was poking around ... man that hurt.

Got a mild spinal headache but as long as I stayed laying down it was fine.

My back hurts like a mofo today though :(

Pressure is elevated, not sure what that means but I'm sure they'll tell me sooner or later. Apparently normal is between 8-18 and mine was 24. That's all I know for now.
