It's ok that you failed...Reminds me of the movie " Easy Money " when Joe Pesce tells Rodney Dangerfield that quitting smoking is easy---he did it a million times !!! Take a deep breath and give it another try--you can do it

Whew! I must've tried a bunch of times before I decided to go cold turkey in 1996.  It was the hardest month and then it got easier. It will be 10 years now in October.  And it was honestly the best thing I did for myself.

I still miss smoking every once in a while though...you'd think after 10 years, that would go away.  But at least I know I won't pick up it again.

Whatever you do, don't give up!  You can do it.  ;)

Good luck!
Langa

It's not hard, you just weren't ready. Keep trying.

I failed cold turkey last week, patches the week before that, and inhalers the week before that.  ;;D

Keep on pluggin' Matt and remain positive.  Never quit quitting.

Even tho I only smoked when I was "out" I quit cold turkey after New Years. I looked forward to smokeing too and was sum sort of calming thing also when out.....I liked it !!!! Got tired of the after effects with scratchy throat from smokein too much all weekend (or all week on vacations) and sinus crap and coughing with a bit of a draggy feeling and heavy chest. I was shocked how easy it was to quit......I can't stand cigs now. Wierd reactions Pam

Sorry Matt. That sucks.

Langa is right though. After a month, you can handle it. For me, after four, I knew I had it licked for good.

I don't miss tobacco but I miss the "mechanics" of smoking a pipe now and then....a very guy thing. Lots of stuff to do to get started.

Damn!  Why didn't you ask me.  I could have told you that!

Sheesh!  I've failed more times than you can count, including using such neato things like hypnotism (lasted 4 weeks), Nicorette gum (tasts like chewing dirt - about barfed every time I stuck one in my mouth), sucking on a plastic fake cigarette (which was supposed to make me THINK I was smoking - but didn't).  So my plan has been to give up giving up (for the time being).  I know I'll try it again, and maybe I'll make it that time.

My husband who smoked three packs a day just up and quit cold turkey almost 30 years ago (the bastard), and cannot for the life of him understand why I can't.  Oh well.

Better luck next time.

Sandy
