Title: Colin and I and our hospital visits...yes visits! Post by blossom on Mar 29th, 2006, 11:10pm Well, it started a week ago today... got a call at work that Colin had taken a header off the playground equipment, landed on his chin and bit all the way through his tongue and lip. We sat in the waiting room for 3 HOURS before they finally saw him. He got put on penicillan and is healing up nicely. I would post some pictures but I'm afraid the weak stomaches here wouldn't like that very much. :-/ Monday night I stood up to go put Colin to bed and my nose just started gushing blood - attractive, I know - so an hour later it hadn't let up so off we went to the ER where we sat in the waiting room with my nose bleeding for another 1 and 45 minutes. The doctor tried to get it to stop once I was in the ER to no avail. He ended up having to "pack" my nose. I now can say I have felt a cluster in reverse! It felt like that sadistic SOB that calls himself a DR was poking my damn brain! It hurt like H-E-double hockey sticks! :-/ So that is a rundown of our oh so exciting week! Love- Karen, Chris and Colin |

Title: Re: Colin and I and our hospital visits...yes visi Post by Lizzie2 on Mar 29th, 2006, 11:16pm OOhhhh Karen - I can sympathize with the latter at least!! Last April, I went to the ER with a massive hemorrhage that required surgery the next day, but before they did surgery, they packed it. Between the packing and the suctioning, it was an experience I'll never forget!! Sorry to hear about Colin's accident!! Hope you're both recovering well by now!!! Hugz, Carrie |

Title: Re: Colin and I and our hospital visits...yes visi Post by cootie on Mar 29th, 2006, 11:47pm My daughter used to have severe nose bleeds suddenly.......I remember holding her over the toilet and blood POURING out and then huge clots would be stuck tryin to ooze out the size of a sock ! Man talk about gross !! The doctor catorized some veins in her nose too close to the surface that kept ruptureing and she never had problems again. I was shocked it worked and was that easy cuz of how severe it was. Can't beleive a kid could loose that much blood either and still function. Bitein thru the tongue is pretty bad too.......and how bad it swells later. One reason tongue pierceing never interested me. Seein red Pam :P HOPE everyones doin ok by now ! |

Title: Re: Colin and I and our hospital visits...yes visi Post by blossom on Mar 30th, 2006, 12:05am Amazing Colin's tongue is almost closed already... just barely open. My nose is a ruptured blood vessel way back in my nose which they couldn't close due to the amount of blood which was why they packed it. I have the packing out already... couldn't stand it any longer and pulled it out myself. I shake and quiver just thinking about it. YUCK! :'( Going next Wednesday for a cauterization and to talk to the dr about having septoplasty... I have a deviated septum from breaking my nose in 3rd grade. I figure if I can handle clusters I can take another nose break and straightening. aughhhhh! yuck! Much love- Karen |

Title: Re: Colin and I and our hospital visits...yes visi Post by Bethany1 on Mar 31st, 2006, 10:56am Oh boy, what a week Karen! I have had my nose cauterized 13 times. Its no big deal. It kind of smells like burning bananas. That was when I was a kid, they stopped when I was 16 thank goodness. I hate that packing too, its so nasty. Glad your son is doing better poor little guy. :( Hope next week is better for ya. :-* Beth |
