Title: My turn to RANT
Post by Dragnlance on Mar 23rd, 2006, 8:16am
I can't believe this. The very same people that banded together to insist that we need packs of wolves, hundreds of grizzleys, and thousands of mountain lions, in Montana, AND have a complete COW if we even so much as comment on allowing hunting to keep their numbers in check, FREAK over a stupid coyote (pronounced KI - YOTE, no EEE on the end) in Central Park.
I think that the multimillion dollar wolves they brought to Montana, should be set loose in Central Park, as well as Grizz and lions. Why not?? They tell US that this is the animals native habitat. As I recall, ALL of the US was their native habitat! Let's reintroduce them into the east coast, just like they shoved down our throats!

Freaking out over a stupid coyote!!
GIVE ME A BREAK!!

When you look at lot of New York City local news, you'll find that stuff like this is always big there. Unusual animal stories, no matter what they are, rank at the top of newscasts because as Larry King points out: News guys get so excited that they run around like chickens with their heads cut off. This kind of touchy feely stuff is a little different there. New Yorkers usually LOVE animals.

I live 350 from the city and laugh at it too. Local New York news can be pretty strange. There's a "hickiness" to a lot of it...Hicksville really isn't far from the city afterall.

ABC, CBS, CNN, NPR and NBC reported today that:

The coyote was actually in town to protest against the NYC Coyote Ugly bar. He was mugged in route and his "We're not Ugly" placard stolen.
He is currently being represented by the ACLU and PETA.
In a strange twist, the ACLU is also representing the bar.
The mugger, arrested by the FBI has refused comment, other than demanding the state supply him with free legal aid from a 4 letter acronym. An art student from NYU that does web work designing placards, offered to defend him but was turned down. The unidentified mugger, stated that it is his right as an American, under the EARA (Equal Acronym Representation Act) to be supplied with a defense from minimum of 4 letters, for FREE.
The HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) which was recently put under the control of FEMA based upon the Patriot Act, is caring for the coyote and being fed MRE's. A three room trailer is being shipped in from Arkansas until a more permanent home can be found.

Word on the street is that several NRA members have offered to put both the coyote and the mugger out of their misery and called for an end to all acronyms exceeding 3 letters.
Representing the NRA in their action, is the NEA which states the failure of the NCLB (No Child Left Behind) program makes it impossible for many citizens to comprehend more than 3-letter acronyms, and is therefore unconstitutional.

Good grief -- in East Texas we just shoot them, but it never hits the papers.. Maybe we're missing something here....  :)

I grew up in NYC.  If it's not a cat, dog, pigeon, or a rat, it's news.   ;;D
