Title: My Boyfriend and Match Day :)
Post by Lizzie2 on Mar 16th, 2006, 11:31pm
Today was Match Day for 4th year medical students all across the country.  Each school had a designated gathering location, usually very ceremonious-like.  Then, at 12 noon, the students were able to open their envelopes to find out where they will be going for their residencies.  Prior to the match, they'd had to provide their ranking lists (after interviewing for various residency programs) and the programs also had to provide their rank lists.  The match system looks at your top choice and if you're on the list for that program, then you match.

Joe matched at his first choice - Temple University Hospital for the Internal Medicine program!!  He graduates from med school in just a few weeks and then he'll be a good ole intern starting July 1!!

Very happy for him!!! :)

Congrats to Joe.

Reminds me of my wife's match day story.  May I tell it?  If no, please ignore rest of post.

My wife and I were dating long distance at the time (not married of course)  and she went into the match not knowing if she should move out to be closer to me or stay closer to her family.  So, she listed residency progrmas in both places and let the match decide for her.  Her first choice was near me and I think her 2nd and 3rd were near her family.

Match day was the scariest day of my life.  I HATED waiting.

Since she is my wife, the rest of the story is kinda obvious.

Anyway, the stress of the week surrounding match day really gets Med students ready for the stresses of being a Dr.

Anyway, congrats Joe!!!  Good luck in your residencY!
