At the moment, everything is calm. We aren't seeing contractions right now, but the lab results continue to indicate a building infection. If the infection isn't actually *inside* the uterus, we could still be in this game. So, each day is a miracle.

Meanwhile, I opened my mail today to find out that my benefits have run dry and my income is now *squat*. We knew this would happen and thought this was going to be OK because Jen has a great job. The problem is she just started there in September and isn't able to take FMLA or get short term disability benefits yet (takes 12 months). We just went to a combined income of -0-, and we have a mortgage and 2 kids, etc. I swear, when life takes a dump on you, it really takes a dump. I know I'm going to get through this, but hell, I wish I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can't hold my breath much longer.

At least baby Ethan is *still* with us. He's at 20 weeks now, just 3-4 more and he will be 'viable'. 20 more would be better.

The hospital is being very nice to us. They are letting me occupy the bed next to Jen at night, so I sleep here every night. They even bring me (gag) food when they serve her. I help the nurses change the paper in the machine and manage the alarms on her monitors. All of the staff seem very nice. If things go well, we'll know them all like family before this is over. I'm glad I can be here and not be just in the way. Now that I'm not sleeping on one of their medieval cots, my back may start feeling a little better.

Anyway, that's all for now. The prayers must be working a little, so don't let up. I love you guys for being here for us. Thank you all for the notes. I wish I had time to respond to all of them.

The prayers and well wishes will continue for as long as you need them.

Don't you even worry about trying to answer each of us individually. Just know that when you get a PM, it's just one of us thinking about you at that minute - no reply necessary.

How much money do you need to survive and pay the mortgage and feed the kids and for how long.

I will be praying for you. We had friends who had a daughter born at 24 weeks who didn't look like she was going to make it to 20 weeks but she did. She has had her share of medical problems but she is a miracle and a blessing.

I'll see if I can get my 3 year old to pray for you.

God bless you, Jen, and Ethan. Your wife must be a trooper to go through this kind of emotional time and you being there for her has got to be tough too.

All of my love and all of my prayers continue for you, Jen, and baby Ethan.

I'm so glad that the contractions have stopped and things are okay for the moment. I think you've gotten through 2 weeks of absolute hell since you first told us about the required bedrest, right? 2 weeks have gone by - 2 weeks that have been terribly heartbreaking, but also 2 more weeks for Ethan to grow. I feel that every second and every day is a miracle in itself to allow Ethan to grow strong inside Jen. I will continue to keep all of you in my thoughts...

Hang in there, Shawn. Just focus on Jen and the baby right now. The other stuff will work itself out one way or another. Just take it one minute at a time.

This is a very large "family" sending thoughts and prayers on a continuous basis. This has to be a good thing. Hang in there with Jen. I know it means so much for Jen to know you are there.
