Title: Re: My brain is fried..... Post by BarbaraD on Mar 15th, 2006, 3:03pm What's an "html" class? Isn't that something to do with computers -- that thingy you put in front of something you're searching for on the top of the search screen? (I'm electronically challenged you know.) Don't worry about going back to college. Get friendly with your advisor and take the classes you like. I got my degree without ever taking Algebra. Convinced my advisor if I ever found a need for it I'd come back and take it. He convinced the math department and I graduated without it. We just couldn't convince the English Dept that "creative writing" would work better than English Lit.... and it wasn't from lack of trying. But BS goes a long way in a college education. And then when you get in the classes HAVE FUN.... ask questions (that always confuses the teachers). One of the most fun times I ever had in a class was a computer class -- I had a TRS-80 model I (with the green screen and a dot matrix printer -- the computer was the kind you put the BIG floopy disk in and wouldn't hold any memory - back in the OLD days). This class was on Main Frames. I couldn't comprehend a main frame, so I related everything to Charlie (my TRS-80). All the written papers, I related to Charlie - the teacher spent hours laughing over my papers (she knew I didn't know beans from shineola). Anyhow, I ended up making an A in the course (I think for the comic relief), but I got the credit and that's what counted. When you go back to college when you're older you can get away with a lot of things you can't when you're younger.... But dont' ever be afraid of the "unknown" -- just jump in there and "get 'er done!" Lecture over ... now go do it! Hugs BD |

Title: Re: My brain is fried..... Post by Mastifflvr28 on Mar 15th, 2006, 4:07pm OHHHH Nana Ree Ree...that is what they make WYSIWYG html editors for!! (what you see is what you get) Freakin html...I don't write that crap out. I put all the pics where I want them and if something don't look right THEN I look at the code and see what's screwed up :) Just google WYSIWYG html editor and you'll see a million free downloads. Play with something. Html can be fun. Now...just don't ask me to learn any new crap like java or flash or anything that makes a website do something fancy. I'm learning php now whilst playing with the new chat, but that's as far as I go :) Mast |

Hey I can relate to pens and paper - and we learned math on our fingers and toes... But if the electricity goes out I can still do math! Well, at least up to 20. And me and "Beauregard" have come a long way since retarded "Charlie", but we still don't know what the heck they're talking about with the "html" and that W-whatever thingy. We've got a flat screen and all kinds of things hooked up to it and we know how to turn it on and get to ch.com - guess you could say we're on a "need to know basis". Geezzz seems like everytime I learn something - it gets changed. Just confuses old people! Hugs BD |

Title: Re: My brain is fried..... Post by Gator on Mar 16th, 2006, 1:54am It's all well and fine to know the HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) code, but I don't know many people who do webpages who don't use some sort of WYSIWYG editor. I use Front Page for the sites I create. Others swear by Dream Weaver. There's tons of programs out there that let you point and click/drag and drop stuff into webpages. The important thing is that you have fun doing it! |

Title: Re: My brain is fried..... Post by Dragnlance on Mar 16th, 2006, 9:33am I quit the HTML programing years ago, and I do use Dreamweaver. HOWEVER, it is always a good thing to know the basics about HTML. There are times when one does need to go into the code to see what the problem might be. Just my 2 cents. Lance |
