National Headache Foundation

Healthcare Provider of the Year Award

The National Headache Foundation Healthcare Provider of the Year Award
recognizes an outstanding healthcare provider. The award is open to
physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses serving
patients with headaches and practicing in the United States or U.S.
territories. Patients, friends and co-workers may nominate healthcare
providers. A selection committee compiled by the National Headache
Foundation will judge nominations based on the following criteria:

Nomination Criteria

Scope of Care
Nominee must be a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or
and nurse who cares for or serves patients with headaches.

Quality of Care
The nominee must demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise and a
commitment to improving healthcare delivery to headache sufferers.

Dedication
The nominee must have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to patients
with headaches during the year and throughout his or her career.

The Healthcare Provider of the Year Selection Committee will review all
nominations. Current members of the National Headache Foundation board
of directors and staff are not eligible to participate as nominees in
the Healthcare Provider of the Year program.

The nomination form

postmarked or received at the National Headache Foundation office no
later than April 1, 2006.

Nominate him.... He'd be a GREAT one. Takes nominations to get the award so the more we do, the better! I just got that in my email - guess I'm on their mailing list because I'm an AHS member. Figured if I posted it here, we could nominate the great ones!

I would if he were my Doc but he's not. I have no first hand experiance with him other than meeting with him in Rome.

Nominating is something OUCH could be doing.

OH ok...I met him last summer. Not sure who I'd nominate - my former neuro was the best doc I've ever had, but he left the country 2 years ago, and so it may be weird to nominate him. My neuro now is pretty good, and so is the NP.

We could all nominate Dr. Rosen... ;;D

I would like to nominate the following as nobody has done as much throughout history as these guys have in recent years to get the word out.

First I would have to say DJ who built this site. A tool greater than any other for furthering the knowledge and treatment of CH.

Pink Floyd / Flash and all the Folks at Cluster Busters.

For their committment to the knowledge Understanding and Support given to countless sufferers throughout the world.

For being patient advocates.

For spreading the word and publicising our plight to all the doctors of the world.

The above mentions have done more for us in the past few years than any single doctor, nurse or practitioner of any sort at any time, anywhere in any world.

Without them we would still be in the darker ages of CH.

MJ,

I believe they may have another award that recognizes a patient advocate. I know Teri Robert was awarded by them for patient advocacy. Something to look into, anyways as this one really is for practitioners...

Check the site and see if you can find one for advocacy. :)

I would call these guys practitioners and lots of scientists, docs in there as well.

Names...Hmmm.

I know Bob W's name, anyone care to provide the rest of the birth names in private. Someone at the NHS may think I am submitting comic book characters.

Bump!!

If you know a health care provider that's made a big difference in your life with respect to your headache care, please nominate them!! I know that we all have star advocates on our lists that we'd love to nominate, but this particular award is for those health care professionals that have toiled for hours and given of their time, caring, knowledge, and then some in order to help us in any way that they can.

I'm actually nominating a nurse practitioner for this award....she's probably never been nominated by anyone, but I've also rarely seen a person as observant, kind, caring, helpful as her. She spends well above and beyond the required time with patients - including time she spends outside of the actual appt trying to help her patients. She's not my primary headache provider, but she does meet the criteria for nomination, and I really think she deserves it.

If you have someone in mind who would meet the criteria for this award, please say thank you by giving them a nomination!!
