Title: Re: I think I'm getting old (not growing up) Post by cootie on Mar 14th, 2006, 10:52am Brad actually gave up on his.......he works on presses and runs around huge machines and stuff at work and can't be DIZZY........he said he had to learn to walk all over again but would turn to do sumthin and get dizzy and disoriented kind of feeling and could NOT adjust. He didn't particularly want bifocals in the first place but this eye doc he went to was an apparent DICK. He went back and told the guy he could NOT work and adjust to them but the guy got pissy and said EVERYONE says that and to just WEAR THEM and shut up basically. I think he even called and complained again but the nurses said to get over it.........he doesn't wear them anymore at all. Defeated purposes Pam But at least SUMONE got there money rite ???? Hope you can adjust !!!!!? |

Title: Re: I think I'm getting old (not growing up) Post by Guiseppi on Mar 14th, 2006, 11:05am I ended up with the progressive bi-focals...........the indignities of getting old. Stairs are by far the most exciting part of bi-focals. You walk like a moderately intoxicated frankenstein! You do kinda sorta get used to them! Good luck. Guiseppi |

Title: Re: I think I'm getting old (not growing up) Post by ABarham on Mar 14th, 2006, 11:44am I really didn't have that much trouble getting used to them after the first few days. The problem I had was when working on the puter, I would have to hold my head back so that I could see the screen thru the lower part and my neck got sore. So, I just had another pair made with the reading part in the whole lens so that it didn't bother me when using the puter. |

Title: Re: I think I'm getting old (not growing up) Post by TomM on Mar 14th, 2006, 12:56pm The other secret is MORE light. I do some hardware confiuration @ my firm or @ home. Those dark light spaces kill me. I first noticed it when working in the bilge of my boat on the engine. Bright white decks and a dark bilge makes it hard to see that dam spark plug or bolt I would drop. Get MORE light. |

Title: Re: I think I'm getting old (not growing up) Post by Lizzie2 on Mar 14th, 2006, 9:25pm My mom has one contact for distance and one for close up. Took her awhile to get used to them, though! My eye doc once told me I had to get reading glasses because I sit at the piano and stare at the music without even blinking. That was probably when I *WAS* 20!! But I guess being a pianist made it special circumstances... He thought the eye strain was making my headaches worse. I bought them and wore them to read or play even when I had my contacts in. However, they were giving me worse headaches - so I think they went in the trash! haha... Good luck with that! |

Title: Re: I think I'm getting old (not growing up) Post by Charlie on Mar 15th, 2006, 1:27am I've been wearing nothing but reading glasses for so long until now. I just picked up my new progressives last week. Scary seeing in my mirror just what a wizened old thing I've become. Now I can lean back and read the board and actually see all the stupid cable tv I have. http://www.netsync.net/users/charlies/gifs/egghead.gif These things weigh almost nothing and now I wouldn't be without the things. Title: Re: I think I'm getting old (not growing up) Post by BarbaraD on Mar 15th, 2006, 8:41am I wore bifocals for a long time, then TRI-focals -- then I had catarac surgery and went back to reading glasses for the computer -- does this mean I'm regressing back to childhood [smiley=huh.gif] [smiley=huh.gif] Hey about growing up --- I decided a long time ago - it's not what it's cracked up to be so I decided to skip that part -- of course at my age now -- I can be childish and no one thinks anything about it -- They just call it eccentric.... ::) Hugs BD |
