Title: The curse continues... Post by Drk^Angel on Mar 13th, 2006, 11:13am Okay... I've replaced the alternator (it was the source of the battery drain, and most of the original problems), the battery (old batteries don't like to be drained flat... Who've known...), and the solenoid relay (It was cheap and quick to replace). Spent the last week removing the old starter (Okay... So there was only 3 days where I actually worked on it... The rest of the time were spent sick in bed, or watching the rain flood down my street) and took it to AutoZone, planning to buy a reman one... Had them test it, just to be sure, and guess what... The damned thing tested good. All that work, and it is good??? Fuck! So now I have to check the cables again (Maybe I should look a little closer). Hopefully, it's just a loose ground connection that I missed, but if it's a bad cable, I'll have to walk back to AutoZone, buy the cable, and walk back home, replace it, and hope that it fixes the damn thing. If it doesn't... Anyone want to help me torch the damn van? PFDAN....................................... Drk^Angel P.S. I hope whomever put this curse on me is having a good laugh, but I don't find it funny in the least. DA |

When I opened this thread I thought it was about "female" problems.. [smiley=laugh.gif] [smiley=laugh.gif] Sorry about your van. There is nothing like a vehicle to keep your mind sharp. Pat |

Or a cursed woman! ;;D Ducking... On the bright side, at least you were smart enough to bench test the old starter BEFORE you bought a new one. Wire brush the battery teminals, cables, the conectors on the starter and use some non conductive grease to keep them from corroding. TomM |

Title: Re: The curse continues... Post by Drk^Angel on Mar 13th, 2006, 1:59pm Bloody Hell!!! I get everything put back together to try to test and see if I could find where the problem was, and ya know what happens? The damned thing works without any trouble. Started the van 4 times without the damned thing even hinting at giving me a problem. It was prolly just a loose connection at the starter that I didn't notice or something. All that unnecessary work... Oy! Well... At least it starts and the alternator charges now... I even threw in an oil change for the fun of it... And boy was that fun... Especially when I started the van up again, and the oil that splattered on the catalytic converter started burning off. I'm givin' a synthetic blend a try for the first time, so I'm hoping the damn engine don't blow up now... Oh well... PFDAN....................................... Drk^Angel |
