Title: Re: firewood Post by Rock_Lobster on Mar 6th, 2006, 2:57pm Had a few moderately windy evenings, with the temperature changes and such. Looking at the root ball, it seems like a bad case of root to. You can see that the root ball is far too small for a tree that size. A small intermittent stream, more a drainage channel from the golf course, runs right next to that tree, running into the stream just behind the two large trees in the top right of the shot. Assuming that the water in that channel rotted the roots. |

Title: Re: firewood Post by cootie on Mar 6th, 2006, 5:30pm How would you like to live in a valley surrounded by hills on both sides of your house......one starts about 15 feet from the side of the house and goes straight up.....other is about 25 foot away and there's a creek. Then out back we have a yard and valley of our own that cuts into the hill. And on top of these very steep hills are trees as big around as a car........we only have a small opening to see the sky but it doesn't get too windy down here and it is VERY private. Oh lets not forget the 4 power lines over the house and poles are on top of both hills next to the house on each one way up there ! (were in a valley IN a valley actually) When those trees fall it really does sum damage and on real windy or stormy days I get a bit of PARANOIA set in. Lost a horse years ago to a freak tree accident on a quiet sunny calm day. Pick up sticks Pam I do love the privacey and all the woods tho.....the trees RUMBLE up there when it is windy out up out and is deafening some days. |
