On March 13th, my sweetie turns 60!  Mind you, he only looks 50, however this birthday is pissing him off!

He refuses a party or anything special.  Just wants my oven fried catfish and a chocolate cake.

I couldn't just do NOTHING!  I sent out massive emails (even hacked into his email address book), made calls, visited neighbors - with the goal of gathering up at least 60 birthday cards (hopefully funny or raunchy ones).  I plan to hang them from the ceiling in the dining room, so when he comes in for his catfish and cake, he'll get alot more than just food.

Do you think this is dorky?

Oh yes ... I also bought him a garden stone that reads "At least you're not as old as this rock."

Sounds exactly like something I would do, Kris. It probably is a little dorky, but it's a good kind of dorky. Probably why our husbands love us.  :)

Give him 60 dollar bills!
When it was my father in law's 60th a few years ago I made 60 cupcakes and stuck a candle in each one instead of a big cake.. it was fun.



I also nicked a roadworks sign with a 60MPH speed limit symbol on it but we won't talk about that eh?!  ;)

My uncle got a speed limit symbol for his 60th as well. ;;D

BTW, Kris, I think that your idea is wonderful! :) I'm sure that your husband will love it.


When I reach 60, I'm gonna have a huge party... ;;D Well, I'm gonna do that at 30 and 40 and 50 as well.. ;)

:) I think its great! He's only gonna be 60 once! Besides how can he stay mad at you when you love him enough to go through that and make his favorite meal!  :)

I'm glad to know this is not an awful idea - and thanks, guys, for the marriage proposals.

Unfortunately, I can't serve the catfish and cake "in the buff" since my daughter and her significant other will be there.  Besides, I don't want to strain his heart - he is going to be 60 after all!  LOL.
