Bailed out of the office and headed down to the bar in the Quarter for a noontime Bloody Mary. Barely made it out of there several hours later.

The Quarter was crazy with all kinds of people. Elvis was everywhere. It was great to see people finally cutting loose. Everybody has been so intense and finally a chance to celebrate something.

It was a mix...alot of locals and many tourists as well. When I talked to the people from out of town about what they saw, all said they were shocked. We locals have gotton kind of use to it. I nodded my head and thanked them for taking it all in and wished them a good time during their stay. It was a good time for a change.

I think this is going to be a good Mardi Gras. We need it.

Thought I might get called to work the EMS/OPH field clinic/EOC at the convention center, but probably ain't gonna happen it don't look like :-/
