I can scream from frustration, my husband is going to San Antonio between the 12th and 18th of March through his work, then a month or so later to Canada.

I can't go and won't be able to go to the convention this year as his job keeps him away from home about 2 weeks of every month and it does not fit into his away schedule.

But... what I can do is send all who supply me with a postal address a tiny something from Africa as he can post it while there and it won't take 3 months to reach you guys. (Africa is still in the dark regarding postal services, we are just behind the original Pony Express service, that means message in a bottle era)

This will restore a little of my joy to know that I could at least get in physical contact with you, my family, in this way, if not in person.

Please PM me with your address. Hope to see you all in person in 2007.

That's a lovely thought, Jazz.

I'll talk to Kevin, our Quarantine Officer, to see if I can send some eucalyptus leaves to the convention as a thank you from all of us Down Under who get so much help and support from everybody here.

LMAO Mr Brain. I can do with some eucalyptus leaves, you know that its oil mixed with citronella just pauses a mosquito before it changes direction and sucks you dry.

BTW, my thoughts are always lovely, the constant malaria you know ;)

I agree, although the eucalyptus would be medicinal, there is nothing like the cuteness but dangerousness of a koala, on second thought I want a kangaroo ;)

Who wants an Elephant?

And how sweet our koalas look in the postcard, so let's just leave it at that.

As for kanga-boings, I've successfully raised a few from hairless bags of skin and bone and seen them released back into the wild. Some species desperately need culling while others are on the edge of extinction - it's a delicate balance.

And thanks for the mosquitoes, Jazz. Not so much the malarial job (Anopheles) because she exists here naturally but rather the delightfully white-banded Aedis egyptii and the joys she brings. If you must export anything, please kindly keep it to elephants and cricketers.

Euculapus leaves are wonderful. Need them for my sinus ;;D

But I'd really like to have a kangaroo.... My grandson and I have been talking about kangaroos (he's on his K's at school and I thought I'd make it more interesting, so I told him about my trip down under and about the kangaroos not being able to jump backwards.... MISTAKE - now that's ALL he wants to talk about -- WHY????). Every day at lunch, "Granny, let's talk about Australia and kangaroos... why can't they jump backwards?" Anyhow, if you can't send the kangaroo - can I send him to you?? He's four and he's housebroke, so he wouldn't be THAT much trouble ;;D..

That's right, Babs, kanga can't go backwards. Neither can emu and perhaps that's why they both appear on our national coat of arms.

Too late.... I already told him.... But he's a "hunter" so he thought it was "cool". Now he wants to go to Australia and go hunting.... I told him when he can sit still long enough for a 100 hour plane trip I'll take him...

When I was there they were having protests about killing Kangaroos for food.

Helen, if I wasn't going to have surgery, I would offer to run down the road and deliver for you. It's only about 6 hours from here.

Ok guys here's a plan. We find out which hotel he's in on what day and send the stuff to him at the hotel to take home. But we'd best make it something "small" or he'll be out looking for new suitcases.

I was thinking about a crawfish (NO not a real one - a stuffed one) from LA. Something native to my state (actually a pine cone from Texas hits closer to home, but since I'm living in LA now..... oh what the heck!).

This is going to be great! My postal address is not possible as I have to go to SA (400km round trip)to get post and they don't keep anything for more than 30 days.

This gives me a small opportunity to get in contact with all of you. I am HAPPY! ;;D
