Title: I' sorry, I have to use the M word here
Post by Sandy_C on Feb 16th, 2006, 12:45pm
I've been awakened around 4:00 am in the morning (today was the fourth time in the last month) with the beginning of a M headache.  Just the vision distortion, but it never goes beyond that.  I've gotten M's before, for the last 30 years, if I had one M a year, that was a lot.  The difference today is I don't have any HA pain, but I have localized "aching pressure" and tingling scalp on the right side of my head - my CH side.  I've been CH PF since June.   The tingling scalp thing just started about 30 minutes ago, so now I'm getting paranoid, because tingling scalp has sometimes been an open that a CH hit was coming.  But that only happened mid-cycle.

Any thoughts or experience to share from you other meegrainer/Ch people?

Thanks

Sandy

My scalp tends to tingle after a bad hit, not before. A stiff neck and dull pressure on the right side of my head are my usual signs......then the cussing starts.

No cussing yet, at least not out loud.

Hi Sandy,
I'll cross my fingers for you that its not CH.  Although my migraines stopped at around age 32 when my CH began, I still get an occasional aura with a very minor shadow following.  I've been told that migraine covers a whole spectrum of symptoms--not just the headache.  The auras show up once or twice a year and are usually just a 15 to 30 minute inconvenience.  I don't get auras with my CH.  I hope this helps you.   [smiley=hug.gif] PF wishes to you.
Pat

Hi Sandy no secret here that I suffer with Migraine and also the Ocipital Migraine that you speak of here.  The difference is that if you suffer from the type of Migraine that has an aura or a vision disturbance you should definately let your physician know... They say that we are more apt to have a stroke.  Don't shoot the messenger.   And though these are not painful they are annoying as you really can't walk around, drive or anything with a vision disturbance..... Life sux bein us.... Ree.... call me any time if need be... just private email me.
Ree16angel@aol.com ps they usually go away with common abortives ie: imitrex, zomig, amerge, frova, relpax nasal pills and injectables.....good luck

I have migraines as well as ch.  My migraines are active and the ch is not.  Just the last 2 months my migraines have had flashing lights and severe nausea.  Thanks Ree for the info.  I will call my dr and let him know about the change in frequency and kind of migraine.  Imitrex is still working to abort the migraines, thank God.

I will be praying for you Sandy that it isn't ch returning and that what ever it is stops and leaves you alone.  Please consult with your dr if this is new for you.  Ree is right.

Update - well the telltale tingling sensation in my head now works for migranes too  :-/.  cause I've now got the migrane headache.  It's not too bad - I can still function - but it sure the heck is annoying.  Hoping it won't last too long or get any worse.  Just some slight nausea and real crappy ache all across my head - just like normal.  Gonna head home a little early this afternoon and take my trex (out of CH cycle but not trex, thank God)

Anyway, it's not CH, it's just a meegraine that started itself up a little differently than usual.

S**t.

Thanks to all.

Sandy

Sandy, I hope you're feeling better, and don't panic about the stroke risk.  Even with what we know about the latest research, the risk is still fairly low.  Just be aware of it and educate yourself about the risk factors.  I found this link by Teri Robert which has some useful info.

I had flourescent zig zags on each side a while ago and was watchin tv......no pain or vision problems but they were very bright and I was sittin in a rather dark room in here watchin a movie. I got up and moved around and it went away. Is that the aura kind or just me havein a flashback Pam

I get migraines but mine are tension and come on quick and also real bad damage to my neck....but even weather changes gives me lingering head crap.
