Title: Re: Supposed to get anywhere from 5" to a foo Post by Karla on Feb 16th, 2006, 8:04am Everything is closed in the southern half of the state as far as schools go. Madison which hasn't closed school in over 4 years is closed today. Hubby still had to drive to work in this mess. He will probably come home early because it is suppose to get alot worse today. I love getting snowed in! About time we get some decent snow around here. |

Title: Re: Supposed to get anywhere from 5" to a foo Post by Redd715 on Feb 16th, 2006, 8:24am Yeah I'll get to be snowed in at work this afternoon, as I highly doubt that any of the private snow removal folks will have cleared things out by 6pm today. It's gonna be a long long frustrating day. |

Title: Re: Supposed to get anywhere from 5" to a foo Post by Karla on Feb 16th, 2006, 10:44am Patti don't bother shoveling. My son just shoveled last nights 3 inches off the driveway. In the process it started snowing again and the driveway was covered a couple inches deep again when he was finished and I have a very small driveway. It is just comming down that hard and fast. |

Title: Re: Supposed to get anywhere from 5" to a foo Post by vietvet2tours on Feb 16th, 2006, 1:01pm Seems as if someone left the back door to Montana open last night. It's none of degrees and the wind is howling out of the NNE at thirty to forty miles an hour.None is gonna be the high for about a week. Title: Re: Supposed to get anywhere from 5" to a foo Post by Margi on Feb 16th, 2006, 1:06pm well, couldja shut the side door to Montana then, please, Viet? It's spilling up into southern Alberta at the moment too. Our winter's been going really well.....until yesterday. Then all hell broke loose and it's brass monkey weather suddenly. Our cat is pretty pissed at me - he figures I've changed the weather just so he can't go outside. It's putting a helluva crimp into his social life. |

Title: Re: Supposed to get anywhere from 5" to a foo Post by Karla on Feb 16th, 2006, 1:21pm We have exceeded a foot here. They are now saying we may get 14-18 inches before nightfall. My husband is now out in this picking up stranded kids because we have a 4 wheel drive that is making it through the snow where there cars are not. |

Title: Re: Supposed to get anywhere from 5" to a foo Post by Melissa on Feb 16th, 2006, 7:34pm 7" so far, but that is without the drifting, and oh my is it drifting!!! It is hilarious watching Nikita go outside. She bounds like a deer through the snow drifts to chase the birds. I wish I could post video of it! [smiley=laugh.gif] They have declared snow emergencies in the city along with some stores that have closed (unheard of up here). I wouldn't doubt if the kids don't have school tomorrow either. This is exciting because it's our 1st snowstorm of the season, and boy is it LATE!!! Here's one of the smaller drifts by our patio door... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/mfiltz/snow.jpg |

Title: Re: Supposed to get anywhere from 5" to a foo Post by Karla on Feb 16th, 2006, 9:44pm The state troopers reported over 230 accidents on local interstates and roads. White out conditions at 8am. Both malls, the UW campus, all schools, airport, dr offices, and the state capital had shut down and closed the doors. The news said this hasn't happened since 1990. The roads have improved significantly in the last couple of hours but buses are running 20min late. So school will probably start late tomorrow as well. |

Title: Re: Supposed to get anywhere from 5" to a foo Post by Melissa on Feb 17th, 2006, 8:24am Well, turns out it's not as bad as it looked up here. Roads were fine when hubby came home (I think that's cause the wind blew all the snow Eastward, lol), of course, his 1 Ton Chev had NOTHING to do with it. ::) Anyway, wind chill warnings out now. Oh joy!! :D Lily is already on her way to school on the bus. Happy Friday all! ;;D |
