Several months ago I sent in a resume to a Huge Hospital conglomerate.
I essentially did this not because I wanted or needed a new job but because of my wife being pregnant and wanting to give her the opportunity to stay home if she wants to.
I am currently self employed and though I do very well, if I do not work, I do not get paid. I also do not have my own benefits so I rely on my wife's.
It has had it's perks especially dealing with the daily attacks yet sometimes I'll admit that one can rely on that @ times which is not good for the ego.

Anyway, They contacted me in November and I decided at first to go through the process......
Then I got extremely overwhelmed with new house, new baby on the way, Clusters and just became engulfed with anxiety.
I recused myself from the process and respectfully asked them to keep my info on file. They said to call them back in about a month to check in.
Well, 2 weeks passed and their top recruiter called me.
The phone calls did not stop. They wanted me. They knew of me! Word has gotten around. It felt good.

So I decided what the hell and to go through the process. I knew I nailed it but had to wait.

I was formally offered the position today @ more money than I negotiated!!!!!! Huge Benefits package!!!!!
Amazing!!!

That's huge!

It will be back to a 9-5 job with way more responsibilities yet I will be doing everything that I have worked so hard to do.
Those of you who know what I do for a living (Behavior Analyst/Special Educator/Consultant and Lecturer) know what passion I have for my job and for the children that I treat.

This is a big step!!!!

The biggest thing I want EVERYONE to know is the following:
To quote Chewey

Congratulations, Eric!!! This is fantastic!! I know how hard you've worked to develop your career, and you've told me what a huge step this is....I'm so glad that you've gotten the job, complete with an even better package!

You give me hope that there is pay off someday for all the hard work, education, and countless hours...just gotta keep the faith, right? :)

HUGE NEWS! That is not only great for your career, but for your baby on the way. To be able to spend time with Mom instead of some day care employee is an investment that is priceless.

This couldn't have happened to a better guy! I'm happy for you, and I'm glad that thins worked out especially after you backed out!

OMG I couldn't be happier.A happy pregnant wife,a house you've made into a home and a kick-a$$ job woo hoo!! [smiley=headbanger.gif] . I love the fact that Joanne will have the choice of working outside the home,Being a stay at home (still working) Mom.I was able to stay at home almost all of my kids life.Worked when I needed to both have their upside and downside.I find when your at work you wanna be home with the baby.When your home you miss the adult conversation and challenges of work.You get guilt no matter what you do,I know you'll support her in her decision and that's what matters.God bless and good luck with the job....now get to work on the nursery ;;D

You just nailed it Minnie!

I want her to have the option.

Originally we thought that I would be part MR. Mom.

Now she will have the option to do what I do for example.

If she chooses she could work a convenient schedule and make plenty of $$ but still have most of time with the kid.

For all I know she will want to go back and teach full time. She does have an excellent salary and we may want to utilze the potential socialization of a good day care provider.

Who knows but at least there is now a choice!
