The guy is a jerk. I can understand being upset for getting disqualified for straddling a gate during the first leg of the slalom portion of the Combined race, but leaving the race before it's over when your teammate is in the thick of it? And not watching your TEAMMATE, 21 yr old Ligety WIN GOLD? As in the 1st US Gold in alpine skiing in 10+ years? C'mon! Did you see the Ligety interview? Bode is his idol, the kid idolizes him and wants to be just like Bode. And Bode didn't stick around to watch him win Olympic Gold. [smiley=finger.gif]

It's not like Bode had to get his rest. He has 4 days off before his next race. His next race is the Super-G on Feb 18th.

Congratulatiosns, Ligety! Not only are you faster than Bode, but you're a better person too!

somehow you can get away with that when you win, but when you don't, you just come off as a jerk.

I enjoyed Shaun White's reaction too.

I think it's always a sad day for young people when they find out the "true" personality behind someone they idolized. Wonder what that poor kid is thinking about Bode now that he knows all this stuff? He really looked up to Bode, and Bode was so self-involved he didn't even support his teammate?

That's sad...

I really do think it's hard when you look up to someone for a long time, and then find out they're not as great as you thought they were.

Congrats to Ligety for winning, though! Totally awesome!! :) Just what US skiing needed!! :)
