Title: Who watched Turin Opening Cermony? Post by sandie99 on Feb 11th, 2006, 10:36am I sure did. I always do. I have lots of nice memories of the Olympic Opening Ceremonies, we used to watch them together as a family. :) And naturally our hopes are high... ;;D Let's just see that how many medals Finland gets this time. :) There's a joke about us Finns and our sport craziness: if something is in Olympics, we'll watch it... ;;D Not sure about that. I'll be watching ice hockey and figure skating for sure. Enjoy the Olympics, everybody! :) Sanna |

Title: Re: Who watched Turin Opening Cermony? Post by marlinsfan on Feb 11th, 2006, 6:58pm I did!! I love the winter games!! I used to ski race competitively in college (slalom & giant slalom), was pretty good to, but as my wife says, the older I get, the faster I was..... Probably true. :-/ I loved the ceremony. 1980s music mostly, and lots of smiling people! Today I watched some races, the nordic combined. Tonight I'm going to tape the women's moguls and watch tomorrow morning as it's supposed to rain! I have all the alpine & freestyle skiing dates & times in my palm pilot, and got my TIVO programmed! The flying finns should do well! Good luck! Only 1 venezuelan in the games, some 52 year old guy that lives in Idaho and races luge...... |

Title: Re: Who watched Turin Opening Cermony? Post by Lizzie2 on Feb 12th, 2006, 11:04am I watched it, too! And also watched the games all day yesterday on tv. I enjoyed the pairs skating the most, but then...I'm biased.... ;) Skating is SO awesome!!! :) Do you know the name of the aria sung by Pavarotti at the opening ceremonies? I wanted to look for the translation because I remember it being a beautiful translation. It was also sung at the Pope's funeral, and at that time, they had the translation across the screen during the song. That song almost always makes me cry!!! So I'll be watching it more as it's on today!! For the next two weeks, I'll be seeing rerun snatches on night shift breaks though...which isn't as fun, but it'll have to do!! Carrie :) |

Title: Re: Who watched Turin Opening Cermony? Post by marlinsfan on Feb 13th, 2006, 8:54am Who watched the mens downhill yesterday!?! What a race! I can't believe Kjetl Andre Aamodt (spelling?) almost got a medal, he finished 4th. The guy is 34 or 35 years old, has 7 medals already. He's an old man by skiing standards, and yet he SMOKED down that hill and almost got one. and he kicked some serious butt of the supposed favorites. (no, I'm not norwegian). That first jump sent many flying, and we saw some unbelievable recoveries!!! Wow!! Another round of downhill tomorrow in the Men's Combined (downhill and slalom, times added, fastest combined time wins). |
