Never ask me for my opinion, because you will get it. :-/

I too ask, where are the parents. Your question "What is this world coming to?" can be answered quite easily - the end, unless parents start doing their jobs with their children. It seems that everything is "me... I want it now..., I deserve it because ...., I've had an unhappy childhood...I'm poor....I'm not pretty....I'm , I'm I'm. More and more of today's parents are abdicating their jobs and authority, depending on the schools to teach not only the three R's, but morals, sex ed, manners, respect for others, just to mention a few. Young people today expect - no demand as their right - to have it all, but they are not being taught by their parents a work ethic and how to achieve what they want. They are not taught that they must EARN the privilege (yes, privilege - it's not their RIGHT) to a new car at age 16, and that right can be taken away by Mom and Dad if the kid abuses the privilege.

I am absolutely blown away by reading and hearing about tragedies like this that could have easily been avoided if only the parents weren't so absorbed in their OWN wants and desires, long enough to actually take a look at their child once in awhile and see if he's doing OK. There was a blurb in our paper the other day where an 11 year old boy had been suspended from school for bringing a loaded gun in. This was the third time he had done this in less than a year. Know what Mom said. "They're his guns. He owns them. I can't tell him he can't use them whenever he wants".

I don't know what this world is coming to..... seems like a bunch of pitiful stuff goes on for sure.....don't know where to point the finger but sad no matter where the blame....

I was born and raised in Mountain Home.....stuff like that just never happened there......but I was there in the 'old days'....

Lazy, irresposible parents who let their children raise themselves without any consequences for the stupid crap they pull along the way.

I don't know about parents but my big gripe is that tv shows (Ally McBeal and Six feet Under, are prime examples) make children...aka known as rotten little brats...smarter than the adults. It's dangerous.
