Title: Question re Disney World
Post by Grandma_Sweet_Boy on Jan 31st, 2006, 9:01pm
I'm going to Florida with my girls and their husbands and 3 of the grandbabies in March. The two oldest kids, 11-1/2 year old Brandon and 7 year old Emma are excited as can be.  Jakob is too young (4 months) to care one way or the other.  We'll be staying right on the grounds at Disney.

Here's my question - actually two of them.

Is there anywhere you can actually smoke at Disney.  Somehow the concept seems wrong with all those kids around but I'm asking anyway because I'm an evil grandmother! ;;D

How well geared are they for babies with changing stations, feeding places, etc.

Can ya tell I've never been before either and I'm as excited as Emma is, truth be known! ;)

Thanks for your help
Carol

Can't answer your questions but have a suggestion.

Google Disney World and scroll through the 96million+ hits. You're sure to find an answer.

One hint about Disney World............wear ear muffs when you are near the Small World attraction. If you don't you will be singing "It's a small world after all. It's a small world after all. It's a small, small world" every day for the next 6 months.

Have fun. You're going to love it.

ROTFLMAO............Damn Bob, you have me laughing like an idiot and I've TOLD you not to do that.   But that is so true.  It's been more like 6 yrs. since I was there last and everytime I hear that song I  develop Tourettes syndrome.

Damnit Bob!  Me Too!  Thanks for that.  First I can't smoke and now that stupid song is going to run through my head for the rest of the night.

I'm sending you the Barney song for you to think about - because as I've said before - I'm purely evil! [smiley=laugh.gif]

Carol,
My in-laws are taking my kids to Disney for the second time in April.
I don't know about the smoking, but I do know you will have a BLAST :D.

And no, we don't go...the kids like it better without us..lol.

The one in California I went to a couple years ago had outdoor smoking spots, but I only counted TWO for the whole place, and you have to ask - because they dont advertise them.

I smoked there (for shame - i know) ... and they even had ASHTRAYS.

The one in cali also had an "adult" area - a bar.... but you couldn't smoke in there.. LOL.

Take water with you unless you wanna pay 5.00 a bottled water..........LOL and they arent big either.
and packing a lunch isn't a bad idea either, or smuggling in some snacks in the diaper bags.  LOL

have fun -
tina :-*

I was just there a few weeks ago, and there were people smoking....in designated areas, I think.  Also, there were "His Bathrooms", "Her Bathrooms", and "Family Bathrooms" which are for parents to take kids for diaper changing, etc.

You won't find a more kid-friendly place.  They even have "kid clubs" where parents can drop their kids for a few hours of babysitting, while parents get a break and a quiet dinner or movie.  When Jessi was little, we dropped her off at the Neverland club for hours of video games, Disney movies or even naps while we gathered up our sanity.

Here is a pic of a beautiful gate of lights at Epcot.  This was  an awesome construction which changed patterns to music.  Hopefully, you will have a chance to see it.

But Linda, (LMAO)

I’m just trying to make this the happiest place on earth and
“a world of love,
and world of cheer.
It’s a small, small world”

Carol,
You will ALL have a ball!!
All of the above is spot on...........cept one lil bitty detail./...

Bob, ya got the song wrong...........
Here goes......
It's a world of laughter a world of cheer
It's a world of hope and a world of fear
There's so much that we share,
that it's time we're aware,
It's a small world after all!
(chorus)
it's a small world after all,'
it's a small world after all,
its a small world after all
It;s a small, small world..........
(with the tune humming in the background)
so, now you have it, Linda......BTW, my phone is disconnected and I have moved to Latvia.and I like the song best when they sound like they're singing it underwater.........

Oh, and hints for your trip there.
We always took handiwipes.....
and, so we didnt have to hit EVERY concession stand along the way, special treats that didnt melt in the heat...granola bars.OH, and Woobs is right! Water!!!!!
Then, if you are renting a car, rather than eat at the overpriced, underquality restaurants, leave the park.get your hand stamped, so you can return, go out to eat someplace around....or go back to your hotel and have a picnic around the pool and some rest time!
OHH! OHH! Gramma.2 pair of shoes, if you'll be there longer than 5 hrs.......you will survive if you change from, say, tennies to sandals........
Aww, heck, overspend, get exhausted, blisters on your feet and sunburn! It's once in a lifetime!!!

Have a ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carol,

you are going to have so much fun! :)

I visited Disney World back in 1992 and had so much fun with my parents, two cousins and aunt. Back then my dad was a smoker, so I've been trying to recall how he managed to stay sane at Disney World, but I can't recall... He probably smoked in secret. Or had nicotine gum or something. ;;D

Anyways, I do hope that you all will have wonderful time! :)

That song will "last" thru the DECADES!!!! We went when Buddy was small (he's 37 now) and I STILL hear it..

When Caleb was born some idiot got him one of those things that hang over his bed and GUESS what it played -- yep Small World. I had de ja vue (or however you spell it -- a flashback).

STAY AWAY FROM THAT CAVE!!!!!

And yes, Bob, it's going thru my head as I write this.. >:(

Have fun Carole.....

Hugs BD

Carol,

Since you said "Disney World"...I'm assuming you mean Orlando.

Me and my family were there about 5 years ago...and I smoked just about everywhere, in the park. The only places I can remember where you CAN'T smoke was ride lines, on the rides, and most of the restaurants.

Enjoy...Epcot was the best!
